Reality & Opinions

Firstly, This is not a thread to either (a) Slate the team or (b) Poor Misery into the forum. What this thread is, however, is a realistic look at not only our current position but the games ahead of us.

A good place to start would be the below:

Picture 1.png

From the above, I would say that both Watford and Bournemouth will avoid the main depth of the Relegation battle leaving only Us, Middlesbrough, Swansea, Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Hull.

Out of the the above teams i would estimate that the only certainty to be relegated would be Hull City. Crystal Palace have heavily strengthened their squad and it will only be a matter of time until Big Sam strings together a few wins in what i estimate, will guide them up to around 12th.

Sunderland, somehow, always manage to scrape through and Swansea are picking up points under their new manager.

It hurts me to say that, We look the worst team out of the Relegation candidates and least likely to pick up any points in the near future.

Below are the fixtures coming up for ourselves and the teams surrounding us.

Middlesbrough - Tottenham (A) , Everton (H) , Palace (A) , Stoke (A) , Sunderland (H) ... I would say more than capable of beating Sunderland and likely to pick up atleast a point against Everton and Stoke.

Leicester - Man Utd (H) , Swansea (A) , Liverpool (H) , Hull (H) , Arsenal (A) ... Realistically i would hope for 3 points at Swansea and 3 points against Hull. Cant see us getting anything from any of the other games.

Swansea - Man City (A) , Leicester (H) , Chelsea (A) , Burnley (H) , Hull (A) ... Although getting 6 points from their last two games i am hopeful that losses to Man City and Chelsea will knock their confidence back out of them. Having said that, They are likely to beat both Burnley and Hull in the games following.

Palace - Sunderland (H) , Stoke (A) , Middlesbrough (H) , WBA (A) , Tottenham (H) ... I can see Palace getting 3 points from Sunderland, Stoke and Middlesbrough lifting them clear of the drop.

Sunderland - Palace (A) , Southampton (H) , Everton (A) , Man City (H) , Middlesbrough (A) ... Not sure where they are likely to pick up points however Sunderland have that knack of pulling off results and surviving the drop.

Hull City - Man Utd (A) , Liverpool (H) , Arsenal (A) , Burnley (H) , Leicester (A) ... Tough run of fixtures.

So, From the above and current situation, i ask two questions to fellow fans....

1. Who are your 3 favorites for Relegation?

2. Where will Leicesters next points come from?

Personally, i believe it will be Hull, Swansea and Middlesbrough for the drop and our next points will be 3 points away to Swansea.

If I was being overly optimistic I'd say we'll end up with 4 point from the next 5 games. That's a point away to Swansea and a win at home to Hull. After 28 games I think there will be around 4 teams on about the same points all in or on the edge of the relegation zone dependent on goal difference.

Hull aren't a certainty to be relegated, they've improved a lot under Silva and they'd beat us at the minute.

I think Hull and Sunderland will go down. Swansea look capable of picking up points, as do Palace and Middlesborough are not easy to beat (and we are). That does not leave us in a good position. I wouldn't back Boro or Palace with hard money to go down so I believe it's between us and Swansea for the third place. I don't feel good saying that but I believe that's the reality. Even worse, I think our next point/points will be Hull. Swansea will beat us on current form, especially away and I just can't see us picking up much from the other 3 games.

Max 4 points: 3 against Hull (H) and MAYBE 1 at Swansea (although if I'm being honest Swansea which have turned up will put a real shift to beat us, as relegation rival

If things keep going this way: Hull, Leicester and Sunderland down.

As above, I think Sunderland and Hull will go. Hull will fight in every game, but ultimately their squad is too short of quality and quantity and Sunderland have struggled all season, bar the odd result.

I then think it's between ourselves, Swansea, Palace and Boro for the final place.

Palace - Big Fat Sam will almost certainly grind out enough wins along the way and keep them safe, they have real quality in Benteke and there's no doubting that Sam will make them stronger at the back also.

Boro's fate is likely going to come down whether or not they can score enough goals. There's no question of their defensive capabilities, but they might suffer like we did when we down to League 1 through not having the quality going forward. They also suffered with an equally frustrating transfer window it seems.

Swansea - substantial improvement in recent weeks. The question about them I guess is whether they can sustain it, or whether it is new manager syndrome that may wear off.

Ourselves - there are enough threads on here to work out what our many problems are. I think they key to our survival may rest with Slimani. I'd be lying if I said I thought he was a great player when we first signed up, but there's no doubting that he has goals in him (which is more than can be said for the rest of the squad). If he can bag 6/10 goals in the remainder of the season then I think we'll be fine, if not then I really do not see where the goals are going to come from with an out form Mahrez, Vardy and a midfield that couldn't hit a barn door at times.

I think we'll have a clearer picture at the end of the month, perhaps not the picture we want though.

If you asked me this time yesterday, I'd say Palace, Sunderland, Hull. Today however I am replacing Palace with us. I can't see where a win is coming from if we keep playing the same.
