Is this News?

I thought that was the whole point of the transition period?

We were fed the lie we could negotiate trade deals whilst in transition, all that does is push the cliff edge further back.

Hopefully Its now hard brexit or no brexit.

Time to crash out hard.

Not gonna happen.

The only crashing we're going to see is the Tories crashing and burning.

I couldn’t care less about them, they’ve mismanaged this from the start. We could be out this summer if they hadn’t messed around and it was them that sold us to the EEC in the first place.

Oh, the irony. lol

the lies

The EU referendum saw the leave campaign produce an unprecedented number of lies.
As the same people are trying to rewrite history and sweep unfeasible brexit promises under the carpet, this page will help you get wise and not fall for false prophets again.

External links:
the lie: The Leave campaign had that expensive looking bright red bus saying we'd give the £350m to the NHS instead of the EU every week. Their site was even counting how many hospitals they could build with that.
the truth: They didn't wait too long before saying that was a lie. The day after the referendum Nigel Farage himself said it was all tosh. Yes, even you Nigel, promised those, despite what you said afterwards! And only a few months later, we have Theresa May admitting it as well. What a scam.

So the EU says how they want things to proceed, you don't agree and your instinct is to just leave immediately causing absolute chaos? How utterly, dangerously childish.

The grown up response, if you don't like the EU's plan, is to talk to them about it and agree on an alternative.

We've been talking for a long time now. we've agreed the first bit now we've got to wait until March to agree a transition and then we can discuss a trade deal. There was no reason why we couldn't discuss it all concurrently . Mean while we've put up with briefings, leaks and abuse. Fvck 'em, it'll cost them more than us.

Well, at least you reminded me of a great song (or two).

Is there anything here we didn't expect?

They were talking about ECJ jurisdiction for 7 years, if it's 2 years after the official exit date to be finally free of this cartel then I'll accept that. (Now sure if I'm still classed as an ultra/radical/extreme Brexiteer after that)

Again though, this is a negotiating position, we still have the option to walk away in March and if we don't like the deal offered we can do.

You should be asking why your government have failed to take any initiative and let themselves be dominated and dictated to by the EU.

Your response is just like a child who, having been told calmly and rationally why she can't have a toy, proceeds to go and smash up her bedroom.

The EU aren't our parents, they have no inherent authority over us, it's only because we have such a piss weak pathetic government that we're allowing them to be in control.

Instead of acting like the child what we actually need is stronger, more mature leadership. It is abundantly clear that Tessie and team are not up for this task. They are already the worst government in modern British history on a range of measures, letting them loose on something as crucial as brexit is a real disaster in the making.

Phil Gee?

I'll take that as an admittance you've got absolutely no comeback and that I've comfortably won the argument.

What's that now, about 15-0?

Maybe one day you might win 1. But only if I suffer a major brain injury. #keepdreaming.

Barnier has confirmed this is the EU position: that UK could negotiate deals, but couldn't implement them until the end of the transition period.

Is that different from the current position?

As I understand it, we cannot currently enter into formal negotiations on new deals, though exploratory discussions are ongoing, I presume.

He added that the UK would also need to negotiate the replication/replacement of 750 existing EU agreements with other countries (assuming it still wants those agreements). The existing agreements would cease to apply to us at the end of the transition period (or in March 2019 if there is no transition period).

Thought this was interesting as well, people who take an interest in politics generally vote Tory.

Bit annoying really, we certainly need to get people more interested in the subject.

Firstly the more educated the person the more likely they were to vote labour I believed?

Secondly, with education cuts it's unlikely they'll be enough bright people left to vote tory if your theory holds true

As I understand it all those other countries have agreed to continue with those agreements post Brexit.

You're just a rabid fundamentalist though. Even you must realise you're miles away from the centre on this one?
