Fair enough as an idea I have nothing against floating wind farms, Mrs G hates them as the spoil the seaview but it feels like another cost the current young people would need to burden with the added cost of living

Only because current evidence makes it so absurd to ignore even the Telegraph can't really do it seriously now. 

 

Of course, as you say, their method of dealing with the matter that basically amounts to make money now and let future generations burn still remains.

If anyone needs a good laugh, get on YouTube and watch some of the videos of the Robot football from this games. It's a thing of slapstick beauty. I was crying with laughter watching one last night. The endless pratfalls, robots fly kicking the shit out of each other, missed penalties, robots getting booked, robots being dragged off by their handles, the stretchers. It's brilliant. A minor patch or 2 and a few of them could be ready to start at centre back for us

As I can't respond in the other thread, re social media being a cesspit, I think it's largely a cesspit because of adults. 

 

When kids were using Facebook it was catching up with friends. Then over time adults ruined it with politics and xenophobia.

 

When kids were using Twitter it was a big shared community with jokes, laughs and finding people with shared interests. Then adults got involved with politics, xenophobia and misogyny.

 

When kids were using tiktok it was all dance videos and laughter. Then adults got involved with politics, xenophobia, misogyny, climate denialism and celebrating violence against those who think differently. 

 

It's the adults dragging this world into a hellscape, digitally or otherwise.

Nasa's powerful next-generation telescope has blasted off into space from its launchpad in Florida, with a mission to explore dark energy, black holes and other mysteries of the Universe.

The Nancy Grace Roman telescope will capture vast panoramic views of space, with a field of vision 100 times larger than both the Hubble and James Webb space telescopes, Nasa says.

The mission begins with a 100-day journey to a vantage point roughly one million miles from Earth, where the telescope will then start charting planets outside our solar system, known as exoplanets.

"Roman is going to change the way we look at the Universe," said Nicky Fox, a Nasa administrator.

In other news coming out of studies from the DESI telescope from the last few years, which has been looking at universal expansion and Dark Energy, there's a lot of papers suggesting now that the universe won't end expanding forever and ending up with a heat death. They think that the expansion looks like it is going to slow down and eventually the universe will fall back in on itself in a big crunch. They even gave it a 94% realistic possibility. 

 

So that's nice isn't it.... It'll get all hot and dense and tiny again and probably produce another hot big bang.

The theorising about the future expansion of the Universe has been "in, out, in, out, shake it all about" for the last few decades, it would seem. One of the biggest mysteries of cosmology.

 

There's still so much we don't know about the drivers of that expansion and as such whether or not the expansion rate will drive any one of the three possible endings depicted here.
