The Reverend Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 Who do you think is the worst first team regular at City? Why?
lcfcsoul66 Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 Williams! Cos he's Lazy!!! If i did as much work as him i'd get the Sack!!!!!
supedaj Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 yep - i second that. Skill is nothing without commitment & dedication.. its just wasted.. If he'd buckle up I'm sure he'd be on of the best midfielders in the league, but its a big ask...
Thracian Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 I tend to think Williams too. Others may be more limited players cos Williams has talent but he just seems disinclined to express it. The situation has got worse recently. If I were his manager I'd definitely be speaking to him and trying to find out if he's in the right frame of mind and, if not, why not. He's the epitomy of a Forest player. Silky skills at times but not around when the sleeves need rolling up. It should be easier for him in City's team now because there are a few footballers around him - and the more so once the Goal-Smith gets back in circulation. Williams could easily make himself conductor of what should now become a versatile, melodic and capable "orchestra". The question is: can he keep his place? Forced to place a bet I'd say no. He'll more likely be on the bench and should use that time to re-motivate himself and regain his fast-fading credibility.

I think if he did up his work rate he would be very useful in what i consider a poor league. He'd maybe be worthy of the title of 'Fan's Favorite' then.
Ric Flair Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 de Vries, far too inconsistent for my liking. Won't score us enough goals to rely upon him and doesn't create that many for others. He's a fancy dan without the fancy stuff. So i'm not sure what he is.
Hitesh Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 De Vries He hasnt performed well at all. He has had the support this season a bit more but still hasnt delivered like a striker should. He doesnt link well with the other strikers at all and he is unsure in the final 3rd. I have given him a chance this season to perform but he has failed to do so. Williams has been as incosistent as De Vries and has sometimes been an indirect fault to some goals we have conceded! He doesnt take control of the midfield and doesnt help the rest of the midfielders when we are under the cosh. But he has played some good football and i think that he needs someone in the management or even another player to tell him to play for the full 90!
Head Honcho Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 De Vries At best he is a below average striker, that's not his fault,i just think he was brought in to do a job well beyond his capabilities. This also applies to Kisnorbo but i think there is some improvement in Kisnorbo and he could probably be excused because of his injury, but i do think he flatters to deceive!
Guest Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 I agree with the Williams comments. Very disappointing, and extremely frustrating.
Sly Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 I agree with the Williams comments. Very disappointing, and extremely frustrating. Frustating becuase he has the potential though. He's is not the worst player, just the worst performer.
Libertine Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 Frustating becuase he has the potential though. He's is not the worst player, just the worst performer. That sums it up perfectly my friend.
The People's Hero Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 de Vries. Simply not up to it at this level.
Sly Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 de Vries. Simply not up to it at this level. I wouldn't agree with De Vries either. He is another person who has the potential and just doesn't perform. Me I'd go for Gilbert from what I've seen. Maybe a little harsh as I've only seen him twice though!!!

stez Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 there's this one fella that plays for us who cuts inside, loses the ball, puts in a stupid challange, gets booked, after a while misses a game or two, comes back and does it all again........ however this season maybury has been ropey, williams lazy (he's done nothing since the through ball to connolley against stoke), de vries would be doing better if the ball wasn't belted AT him, so i reckon williams is the worst this season.

I Definetly agree with that!! BELOW AVERAGE STRIKER!!!

Me I'd go for Gilbert from what I've seen. Maybe a little harsh as I've only seen him twice though!!! we shouldnt be too harsh on Gilbert at the moment. He has been hyped up and there has been a lot of pressure on him to perform, mainly because of his transfer fee and age. I say give him a few years to adapt and develop his game. That will be the real test and he needs to support of the fans, other players and management to help him along his way!
Anish Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 Williams. I'd go as far as saying 'sell the swine'
NFFC Chris Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 Williams. I'd go as far as saying 'sell the swine' Back to us .Seriously I would'nt take the lazy judas back
Gené and Tonic Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 I don't think Williams has done badly, he just needs to work harder. Our worst player at the moment imo is Gilbert, because he cost us 200 thousand and hasn't done much. But he has plenty of time to prove himself.
Foxing_Around Posted 11 October 2005 Posted 11 October 2005 My nomination would be Sylla, the times I've seen him play this season he's been pretty much non-exsistant (bear in mind I have missed a few games this season, so if he has played well I've missed it). A prime example would be the Hull game, Stearman was more effective as the right winger, especially in the second half whilst maintaining his right back duties. Like the previous Williams comments, it's frustrating as they both have obvious talents, but very rarely seem to use them; then again this could be said for the majority of the team.
Sly Posted 12 October 2005 Posted 12 October 2005 Every player has potential!Don't they? Well yes. However you can always see the players that have more potential than others. We all know that Mark De Vries isn't brilliant in the air. So why bang balls long to him??? I've seen Hume win more headers that that MDV. I do think he can offer something though. People don't moan about Hammond becuase he can't hit the barn (never mind the barn door). I know maybe a little harsh as the two times he got the ball in the net against Derby he showed good finish ability and poaching skills for the second. We should all lay of De Vries. He'll score more goals that Connolly did last season. Did people abuse Connolly like they abuse De Vries???
shadowman Posted 12 October 2005 Posted 12 October 2005 lee morris is the worst play all ways injuryed and i would not even call him a player because he never gets on the field
Sly Posted 12 October 2005 Posted 12 October 2005 lee morris is the worst play all ways injuryed and i would not even call him a player because he never gets on the field Just the worst person on the payroll then.
Nationwider Posted 12 October 2005 Posted 12 October 2005 Bearing in mind the fee he cost us, Gareth Williams. I'f he's not a regular feature come January and Wes is back, I'd be happy to see us offload him for 100K.
