Foxxed Posted 20 October 2017 Posted 20 October 2017 You're a manager, right? A manager. Not a football manager, but a company manager. And you're out of work. A company approaches you and asks you to manage them. Now you've heard of this company. You've heard the employees got a previous manager sacked. And you've heard they're annoyed the manager they wanted to work for has been sacked by the ceo. Who would want the job? Someone who's more than happy to clash with the players, at least. No idea who that is.
4everfox Posted 20 October 2017 Posted 20 October 2017 Bit of an outside shout but Chris Wilder. He's got a great record. Like Vardy he has worked his way up from the bottom and he is from Sheffield.

Wouldn't be the worst appointments, not sure Wilder would leave though as he loves it there.

That there is the issue. You only have to look at his records with Halifax, Oxford, Northampton and Sheffield United to see his obvious talent. He started off by winning 4 trophies in 27 weeks at Alfreton. Managed (successfully) in all top 6 tiers except the Premier League.
Ian Nacho Posted 20 October 2017 Posted 20 October 2017 I would've gone with Pep Guardiola, at least he brought a Barca style of play.
Stadt Posted 20 October 2017 Posted 20 October 2017 Probably too large a step at this stage but I'd rather gamble on someone like Danny Cowley (or Graham Potter) than go down the Pardew route.
volpeazzurro Posted 20 October 2017 Posted 20 October 2017 Rightly or wrongly, after getting their fingers burnt with Shakespeare, I don't think they'll risk an 'up and coming' young manager. This time I think they'll be pragmatic and appointment someone with recognisable experience for what to them is a multimillion pounds business. It has to be somebody with gravitas to enable him to hopefully take command of a wayward ship. Whilst I'm in no way suggesting we get NP, for me personally there are some similarities to when he came to us the second time. Sven's transfer policy had been akin to a drunk in an off license. Some of the players didn't fit but more importantly some needed ousting due to their bad influence. A clean playing field is needed where all players new and old are evaluated without recourse to favouritism for past glories. Who realistically is that man? There have been a few names I've never heard of so can't judge. Certain names like Ancellotti just aren't realistic and would his sort of experience suit our club anyway? I don't know. For a number of reasons that have been mentioned I personally can't get past Dyche if we could possibly snare him.
