Favourite songs, that always make you think and why?

Recommended Posts

Too many to mention, but I'll go for something recent, that I doubt anyone here will have heard, and then something that reflects what I do for a living, in the hope that one of you listens it and appreciates it.

Deep Purple - Birds of Prey

Richard Strauss - 4 Last Songs (In German, but still transcendentally beautiful, despite not knowing the language)

All depends on the mood, but if I'm desperate to listen to music and relax, then I usually turn to one of these four songs...

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car

John Mayer - In Your Atmosphere

Bruce Springsteen - I'm On Fire

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

Purple have recorded numerous albums for ages, when did you lose track?

I'm a professionally trained musician, I teach and perform.

I'm amazed to see Ian Gillan is still going strong - I last saw him fronting Sabbath at the Reading festival nearly 40 years ago.

His voice isn't what it was, but he's done remarkably. They were live on Radio 2 in November, I doubt you'll still find it on BBC now.
