Favourite songs, that always make you think and why?

Recommended Posts

OK this is scarey .. Im going to be a virgin here and make my 1st ever topic (Be nice) on FT

Tonight after spending many hours gaming and listening to music from my play list, i was wondering what others listen too and why they listen to specific songs. What makes the song top your playlist and why ? ... For me it depends on mood, right? (and how much drunk).. but i would like to expand my playlist and would gladly invite any super good links that anyone has.

Here is a random pick  of a few of my faves (which cover many years & genres,

Kadebostany - Castle in the snow

Alan Walker - Fade

Rolls Royce - Wishing in a star

Deacon Blue  - Chocolate girl

Meat Loaf - 2 our of 3 aint bad

Eminem - MANY songs but fave is When im gone.

Foreigner - Until the end of time,

Heatwave - Always and Forever,

AC/DC - Back in Black

Would be super interested in what makes your guys tick with what tunes.

ps Ohhhh Twaaaat Your Shit AHHHHHHHH (doesnt count)

Good topic idea @Suzie the Fox

I think you’re right that it’s very much mood dependant.

Whenever I need to wake up/boost my energy/get my blood pumping, I often stick on “She sells sanctuary” by the Cult (the best intro to a song ever imo)

P.S. Nice to see Chocolate Girl by Deacon Blue on your list - a vastly underrated tune

This really ought to be in the music forum but I'll leave it in here for a few days.

It really depends what mood I'm in and what you're looking for in a song. There are some songs that's message appeals to me and there are some that make me emotional, sometimes something with a bit of oomph sometimes to get you in the mood.

The music sections a bit of a graveyard for general discussion though.

Massively depends what mood I'm in. At the moment I'm listening pretty much entirely to punk, so for a 8 or so song sample:

We Got A Bigger Problem Now - Dead Kennedys (Revised version of California Uber Alles for the Reagan Administration)

Rock For Sustainable Capitalism - Propagandhi

White People For Peace - Against Me!

American Jesus - Bad Religion

Pandoras Box - Leatherface

Babypunchers - Leftover Crack (Honestly, not their best song but I just love Jello Biafras rant in the middle)

Re-Education (Through Labor) - Rise Against

Each Dollar A Bullet - Stiff Little Fingers

If I'm in need of cheering up, I essentially just turn to one band - Psychostick. Particularly "Six Pounds of Terror". It's 90 seconds of a Pomeranian growling at a chew toy while they lay down a metal riff. Can't not laugh at it (Still better vocals than Slipknot)

Rose Tattoo - it’s gonna work itself out.

Many a time in my late teens, early twenties I just wondered if I would make anything out of the world. It just seemed so hard, but I always used to play this song that gave me determination, fight and drive.

Its amazing what strength you can get from a song, and how influential it can be.

I've really got to many to choose from.

As I'm writing this I'm listening to Ultavox ( John Foxx Era )

I'll start with Black Sabbath - Paranoid. The track that chose my Music Genre of the Seventies til Punk of course

I do tend to go for the Darker Side of Sounds and Lyrics though, which you might have guessed
