Went to Everards Meadows for an early Christmas meal with friends last night. Had a pint of their Cast No Shadow Nitro Stout.

Loved it, incredibly smooth but unfortunately had to limit myself to just the one as I was driving.

Should be available in more pubs

Dark side of the moose.  The Australia, Porthmadog.

Just thinking how difficult to decipher this post would be out of the context of this thread.

Tbh pal I thought i was tripping myself, the whole venue (which is lovely) seems totally out of place in Porthmadog

Trawled around London yesterday

Black Dog Beer House near Griffin Park

Very solid showing - a trio of Deya, Ayinger and some session IPA from a local brewery

Old Guards Horseman

Irish boozer with about six screens and Guinness at £5.30 a pint. Also saw a bloke with haslet meat vaccum packed in his hand, so extra point there

Dont even know it’s name - some rank nothing pub in Chiswick

Dreadful but need a half time break on way to Shepherds Bush

Some wanky place called something Social, Shepherds Bush

Solid Guinness - most people in there were nobs.

Some grub at Chet’s - 7/10 showing

Managed a final pint of Guinness at King Charles 1. What a lovely boozer that

Anyways, onto Turin next week and we hang up the trawling boots bar a 12 pubs of Leics on 29th subject to approvals. Then Brum On 4th Jan

Back from Amsterdam this evening. Fantastic pub culture. Autochthonous beers are always better but I was still surprised how easily the Heineken went down. The Brewery tour was far better than the Staropramen equivalent.

That’s being said - Brouwerij ‘T Ij’s pils is nicer than Heineken, their cafe in the middle of Vondelpark is a cracker, it’s what the pavilion at Victoria Park could be like.

Krem, Oosterling, De Dokter, English Arse, In De Wildeman, De Wetering all fantastic.

That, and their boozer in a windmill were the two places I was gutted not to make it to when we were over.

Do love a good brown cafe over there. Probably the closest thing to an English boozer type atmosphere that you get on the continent?

Slightly away from the beer but slightly related. Going to the Black Dog, I got off at South Ealing. I don't think you could get two more contrasting walks to the same football ground. South Ealing felt well, normal. Chiswick is like middle class Disneyland - a pretty but totally soulless area.

I like Chiswick. The high street is ok and the area around Gunnersbury and Strand on the Green is very nice. Don't think it's soulless, it's pretty quiet and residential.

The gunnersbury outside the tube station was good, really diverse keg line up, one cask.

Yeah I had the same thought. Lager and ale on, seasoned interiors, mix of young and old clientele.

There's not many places I visit and would be happy to go again inside 6 months but Amsterdam is one of them. Feels like we scarcely scratched the surface.

@StadtI’m going to Amsterdam on Friday, so your post is timely. Pinning those Rec’s on a map as we speak.

European Bar Guide is where I picked them up from, aside from Cafe Krem (which would totally be in there if the author visited). Art deco with a jukebox, cat and a bit more economical than the standard.

Had some good pints in the Kazimierz district of Krakow at the weekend. Great vibe round there and lots of cool bars/pubs. Managed to tick off quite a few from the European Bar Guide suggested crawl. Got stuck into quite a few of the wheat beers and found their macro beers to be decent. Also expected the food to be bang average, but it was actually really nice.

Had a nice Black Iris APA in the Malt Cross in Nottingham last night. It's an excellent venue (old music hall) with top cask and keg selection. Nottingham does indeed have some good pubs, but the city seems on it's arse like a lot of places in the UK.

It’s a travesty how we water down beers here. The Tyskie in Poland is really sweet for the ABV.

Domestic Stella, San Miguel etc are the same.
