Nothing would be convincing because IF and thats a big IF we beat Colombia, certainly not a gimme, then the game after that would almost certainly be a 1 goal either way game or extra time and pens, simply because the only tactic Sweden and Switzerland have is be awful, defend like mad, and hope to create a goal and sit on it.

I just feel the Swiss in particular are bollocks. Making tournaments consistently, yet never making an impression on any of them, with a squad of boring, dross players. Just pad out tournaments by stumbling through group stages and bombing straight out afterwards.

Im well aware our recent history shows weve been even worse though.

Switzerland have never made it past the Best of 16 round in the past six showings.

 

I can't see that change for the life of me.

Nerves flutter with the players every time they are in the position to make that one big step.

Whereas we pushed our luck against the Northern Irish.

Not a fan of either team here, both focus on doing basics better than other teams and are just 'there' because other teams are worse than them. Bore draw and Sweden to go through on pens.

Same with Australia. At least Switzerland qualify out of tough UEFA groups whereas Australia limp through Asia playing against war torn countries and tinpot nations. 

 

Sweden and Denmark are also very limited and boring but at least they miss out on every other World Cup and Euro so I don't have much against them.
