Manager Frankie Bunn has strengthened his squad with the signing of goalkeeper Daniel Iversen on loan from Leicester City.

The 21-year-old has signed on a season long loan from the Foxes.

Iversen is a goalkeeper who has featured many times for Leicester City’s development side and was the number one for their U23 Premier League 2 title challenge last season.

The Dane who has represented his country at U21 level has been on trial at Oldham Athletic and featured in the 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest, making a number of impressive saves as well as keeping a clean sheet against La Liga side Girona in Latics' 0-1 win.

He will wear the number one shirt during his time at the club.

Welcome to Oldham Athletic, Daniel!

good news for him hope he does really well there, hope we get a few more on our U23s out on loan too

Will he be barred from playing if they meet our U23s in the Checkatrade Trophy? Also, I wonder if their Twitter feed will be as salty this year...

I'd think so, it's an FA directive I think

It should also be noted that he signed a new deal taking him to 20/21. So despite us signing a new goalkeeper he's been rewarded for a good stint as the number 1 in the development team last year who finished 2nd in the table.

Also despite going on loan, it should be noted that another Danish keeper we had in the team went on loan to the following teams before signing for Notts County, then Leeds and then us. It took him a long time but he made it in the end!

2006 Darlington (loan) 4 (0)
2006 Bury (loan) 29 (0)
2007 Falkirk (loan) 15 (0)
2007–2008 Cardiff City (loan) 14 (0)
2008 Coventry City (loan) 9 (0)
2009–2010 Notts County

Great move for him and hopefully the club.

There's only so much a keeper can learn in training, practice and playing against youngsters.

Nothing like playing against blokes in an often intimidating environment to aid development as £12.5m for Ward has proved.
