Recommended Posts

Afternoon all

I'm headed to the curve this week for a matinee show and am looking for the best restaurant to have pre-show lunch in the city centre.

Want a sit down meal in nice surroundings.

Any tips or advice very much appreciated.

Knight & Garter, hands down. It's a good in. But a bit of a schlepp to the theatre.

There's some new smart gaff opposite the theatre. Queen Victoria arts club (I think)....looked OK when I saw the opening bumph press releases

I take it no one would advocate San Carlo? It's a birthday so was wondering if anywhere like this would suit, or an in town chinese or indian?

It's quite decent, overall, but the standard of service can be hit-and-miss from personal perception and hearing from others who've been there more recently.

Marco Pierre White (inside the Grand Hotel on Belvoir Street) is is highly-recommended and offers something different, but you'd need to ring as soon as possible if interested in trying there for bookings as it's often high in demand.

Zizzi's further down in Belvoir Street if you fancy an Italian.

I've heard so iffy reviews about Marco's New York Italian? Would you recommend, or indeed any other city Indian or Asian rather than Italian? I have also heard San Corlo's services has gone downhill. It's been a while since I went.

Thanks for the advice. This is a birthday meal so maccy d's might not quite cut it! I'll contact the White Peacock and see of they have a table. It's a walk but looks decent. If anyone knows anything more local to the curve I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks again

Get a cab mate, shouldn’t be anymore than £5

They are miserable buggers in there. They have this way of making you feel very fortunate to be in their restaurant
