cityfanlee23 Posted 23 February 2019 Posted 23 February 2019 It's got to the point I have to concede that it's probably time for Puel to go. Not because I want him to personally, because i believe in what he want's to achieve and the style of football he had at other clubs like Lille, but that our players simply are not good enough to adapt to it and I'm not sure many of them ever will under Puel. Whether you believe he does not inspire the team, or believe he does not know what he's doing tactically is irrelevant to me at this point, the reason i believe he should go is because we seem to be making bad individual mistakes over and over, I don't believe most of these mistakes are down to formation or Puel, but individually our players focus seem to be league 2 standard, week after week we make defensive mistakes and blow multiple chances upfront, sure the manager has to take some of the blame for this, but it's not his job to make the decision in that moment, the basics of defending and chance creation stay the same and the players let us down time after time. A perfect example would be Fuchs for the second goal, in no mans land nowhere near where he should have been (for the umpteenth time since we won the league) he's regressed and no manager will make him better, but at the same time individual mistakes are a poison in our club at present and CP has not addressed this issue. Although individual mistakes are not his fault directly, indirectly they just keep on happening, and it cannot go on. We need one of the biggest clear-outs in the premier league in terms of dead wood, and a lot of our players have a lot to answer for. The form speaks for itself at present and we seem to keep going through these phases where no matter how good or bad we play the result is the same. I've simply got to jump the fence at this point, even though I actually really like him and what he talks about in terms of what he wants to achieve, I believe in it! But i now cannot see it ever being produced. One thing is for sure in terms of players the squad is in a better shape now than the one Puel inherited, but with the way we are going at present I can't see this potential ever coming to fruition. I'm sorry Claude, I believe in your words and I've defended you for 18 months now believing they will come true but for me, you have to go. Sidenote - Which players need to (or would you not be bothered to see) go in summer? For me the list is growing week after week. If United come in with 50m+ for Maguire i'd snap their arm off. Massively overrated and has been bang average for a while now. Fuchs, Jakupovic, Simpson, Albrighton, Mendy, James, Okazaki, Iheanacho.
Brainy Posted 23 February 2019 Posted 23 February 2019 This could fit into other threads fairly easily

He creates less chances per minute than Ghezzal does. Sure he's got a wicked cross and has scored some important goals for us, but i'm thinking about the future. He needs to be replaced with something better. Which top 10 team would he automatically get into as a winger?
foxes_rule1978 Posted 23 February 2019 Posted 23 February 2019 Same I have leaped the fence now, too many poor home results against absolute turd teams to have any faith left.

And here’s City fan Lee who has again changed his mind! Now I distinctly remember you throwing the word fickle around without knowing what it meant! Look it up,you are the epitome of the apotheosis of fickle.

Albrighton IMHO is one of the best honest hard working players we have... underrated in my opinion and Gray, Barnes and even Retched Ghezzal could learn a lot from him.

Costa has been great for wolves this season, Ryan Fraser and Josh King great for Bournemouth Antonio and Anderson have been decent for West ham (although possibly antonio) Deulofeu / Carillo have been fine for watford. Even with that said, if he could just "walk in" to those squads, is it not saying something that you have picked Watford, West Ham, Wolves and Bournemouth and not teams in the top 6, where we want to be? He's not good enough for where we want to be and theres no reason why he should not be replaced with someone better.

But this does not mean he should not be replaced with someone better. This does not mean he is good enough for where we are trying to go. Wing is a position where we have potential but no actual top quality now, the stats show although albrighton is decent, hard working and does his job, in terms of creating chances he really does not do that much. With that said, if we sign a tall striker who knows.

Squads perhaps, but ahead of Pereyra & Deulofeu, Jonny & Doherty, Anderson & Antonio, Fraser is a big ask. We are sorely lacking out wide since Riyad left. Gray and Ghezzal are not good enough, Barnes is showing promise, but still raw, and Albrighton is out at the moment

Still wouldn't be someone we should look to offload even saying what you're saying until we have someone better...like Chilwell for Fuchs...Pereira for Simpson etc
