Afaik there was agreement between the PL and the AFCON that PL players are available for selection until 28/29/30 dec fixtures are complete

It boggles my mind that they’re still proceeding with this.

It should be across the board, in any case. You can't have players from some countries leaving earlier than others.

Some other countries have a Winter break, and some others are actually in their off-season.

Sorry, I meant the countries in the tournament. All countries competing should have their players arrive on the same date otherwise you could lose some from one, keep some from another and that would skew things.
