davieG Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 We just cannot afford to lose or draw this game, if we do we will be down amongst the dead men, a game in hand to Plymouth away will mean nothing compared to the psychological impact of losing at home and dropping down to near the, or in the bottom 3 after a reasonable good run.

I know what your saying, especially with a 2 week international break coming up aswell. It's nasty going it to that after a loss. Having said that Southampton have got a very good squad of players and it's beggers belief as to why they aren't up there with the top 3 or 4. The fact they have 2 players out on loan who scored 3 goals between them midweek shows how strong their squad is. I am quietly confident that it will be a good game and if we don't win then a high scoring draw would be a consolation I suppose. We need some goals, come on Smudger.
The People's Hero Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 The second bottom side are just three points below us. If we don't continue to pick up wins here and there, we could easily be sucked in.

A couple of wins and we are in the top 6. You have to actually be really, really awful to get sucked in to the relegation places and stay there. I'm saying it's impossible that it would happen to us but I think we are a midtable outfit who won't trouble the promotion places and won't trouble the relegation places either.
The People's Hero Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 I agree with you but psychologically it would be a huge blow to hit the bottom three in terms of both confidence and any chance of Levein playing a genuinely attacking team.

I think its a good oppurtunity to show weve got better since the start of the season, good win v Southampton and we can look at starting to at least be outside challengers for the play offs, southampton are 7th we beat them were 2 points behind them with a game in hand.
The People's Hero Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 Most importantly, casual fan The People's Hero is going to be there. So sort it City and let's have a decent, enterprising performance and the right result. Also lets have both of DW's legs broken.
Dr The Singh Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 I think CL will take into account the quality of the Southampton squad and play quite defensive!! A win will bring us closer to a play off spot and a loss alot closer to the bottom three, let's hope we win then!!!

Collymore Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 I'm there!!!, be it on my own but I'm still going
Dr The Singh Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 Not at home he won't. I hope your right!!! We will have to see on saturday!!

I think they have some shocking players.
Ric Flair Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 Why does everybody think Southampton are fantastic? I think they have some shocking players. Walcott, Best, Blackstock, Dyer, Pahars, Ormerod, Fuller, Kenwynne Jones, Niemi, Svensson Hardly shocking
Sly Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 I think CL will take into account the quality of the Southampton squad and play quite defensive!! I fear this , it'll be like Preston all over again
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 Walcott, Best, Blackstock, Dyer, Pahars, Ormerod, Fuller, Kenwynne Jones, Niemi, Svensson Hardly shocking Well if those are the players u worry about I would relax Walcott is only 16 and started what maybe 3 games? maybe 6 or 7 on as sub. Ive not seen Leon Best appear yet for Southampton, in fact his prolly out on loan. Blackstock as we know is at Derby Fuller is absoultley s**te I dont care if he did have one good season
The People's Hero Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 Fuller is a good player. The trick is to stamp on him early on. MdV can do that, cos he's a useless tw at and at least he has some weight behind him. Oh look! Here come the 'but he's scored eight goals brigade!'

Blackstock as we know is at Derby Fuller is absoultley s**te I dont care if he did have one good season He's bound to score against us now you've said that! He ripped us to pieces a couple of seasons ago if I rightly remember, let's hope his knee has ****ed him. Walcott may only be 16, but he's amazing. 3 goals in 3 starts is something to worry about. Best, Blackstock and Dyer are all out on loan or injured but what I was stating was they have an obscene ly good squad and it shows by the fact that they've let 2 players go out on loan who scored 3 goals between them in midweek, that speaks volumes on how good their squad is or how stupid their manager is.
Dr The Singh Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 Walcott, Best, Blackstock, Dyer, Pahars, Ormerod, Fuller, Kenwynne Jones, Niemi, Svensson Hardly shocking Most are ex premership players, and hence come with that added reputation. I just think it's in CL's nature to be more defensive and Southampton are ex prem hence he won't want to take any risks!!! Southampton probably look at our squad\team and probably think the same thing

Manwell Pablo Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 Walcott, Best, Blackstock, Dyer, Pahars, Ormerod, Fuller, Kenwynne Jones, Niemi, Svensson Hardly shocking Hardly Great either, seeing as half them are either out on loan or play less then 50% of Southamptons games, Fuller had one good season. Terrible at Portsmouth, not good a Southhamton IMO eutger.

Terrible at Portsmouth, not good a Southhamton IMO eutger. The fact that some of them are on loan shows how strong their squad is to afford to let these players go out on loan. It is a strong squad for a championship team and although I think we can beat them it will be a tricky game. They have lots of youngsters who look the business, let's hope we catch them on an off day.

Yes Redknapp is a bit silly. which contributes majorly to why there not doing as well as they should. I have a massive problem with Fuller I think hes awful and the fact that David Connolly has more championship goals then him backs up my arguement!! Tricky game maybe but will be pissed off if were not beating a team that puts out such **** as wise ( who was to old n *** to play for us ) and bah bah Delap N e way shall we talk about Leicester for a change
willy37 Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 i reckon the 2nd half of the cov game is the best football we've played this year. if we show the same determination and spirit we should easily beat s'hampton.
john_lcfc Posted 3 November 2005 Posted 3 November 2005 kinda pivital match i know we have loads more games but we either slip back into the depth of the bottom half or we swoop up into the relms the play offs are in sight come on leicester
