When have you ever heard a discussion on Sky, BBC, TV, Radio where a manager, player or pundit has described a player or manager as "elite?". It's usually "great" or "top". The Premier League have used Elite themselves. https://www.premierleague.com/youth/EPPP

Depends on if you're going by median, mode or mean average. Median would apply for your statement, mean would apply to mine. The chart works as a mode average (? )

Whatever happened to 'world class'?

You would see players who would not previously take a look at a move to either of these clubs suddenly gravitating to play for them. They would entice the best from around that area to come and try to make the team. The fact that, some players are willing to take a backward step to go forward, as they can see the bigger picture is something we have witnessed as a club ourselves (see Kante). As for using David Moyes as an example, the mere fact that these managers are on a never ending carousel just goes to show, that they are second rate and should be judged as such. You're having a laugh right? Klopp or Pep don't turn Brighton or Norwich into top 6 clubs in a season or 2. It took Pep over a season and stacks of money to be successful at Man City, similar for Klopp. They're great coaches, but be sensible now. Moyes is a good manager for mid to lower end prem teams. He isn't going to set the world on fire, but he'll do a solid job.

The need for success is even greater these days and with the finances available it would be rather strange if he chose not to spend to get the players in to merit the salary he is receiving. As Pep said after his first season, if he had been in Spain he would have been sacked after finishing third.

It’s basically Scotland with sunshine and billionaires.

Real Madrid and Barca are the biggest clubs in the World and I imagine the managers targets are to win the league and/or Champions League.
Guest Cujek Posted 1 June 2020 Posted 1 June 2020 I would love to see Pep manage a team that dont have all the resources in the world. Would love to see him at a struggling league 2 club. when you have only managed 3 clubs and those 3 clubs are Bareclona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City im not sure how you can class your self as elite. especially with that Barcelona team he had, i think Paulo Sousa could have done ok with this likes of Inniesta, Messi etc.
