Wingers on opposite sides

Our wingers produce naff all and basically offer nothing to the team...they might as well not be on the pitch...sticking crosses in to Vardy is like asking Slimani to sprint after a through ball....it's round pegs square holes stuff.

For the next few games can't we try Perez/Albrighton on the left and Gray/Barnes on the right to cut in and possibly maybe get shots at goal?

I know they ain't no Mahrez but it's got to be better than what we are doing surely?!?

Feel free to completely disagree but tell me why we should stick to what we are doing which clearly does not work.

Albrighton should only ever play on the left, clueless as to why all the managers since Ranieri have moved him back onto the right. His best games were on the left for us because he didn't have to try to take anyone on to get a cross in. Barnes natural position is on the left though so moving him onto the right wouldn't and hasn't worked when we've tried it, problem is he and Chilwell want the same space and both seem to be different players when the other isn't playing.

Yeah I can't understand why we've gone back to putting Albrighton on the right....only a good idea when we had Slimani playing.....what with the 2 CDM thing and this it's as if managers don't look back at previous failings and just get away with making the same mistakes over and over again

Absolutely how I see it, two players holding back each others development. And the club's so why hasn't been done to solve it?

I don't remember Perez playing on the left yet this season (correct me if I'm wrong). I could see him being more effective cutting inside.

Our problem is that we only have two "wingers", Gray and Albrighton. Perez is a second striker, always has been a central player in possession for Newcastle, although he is very handy out of possession as a winger with great pressing and high stamina. Barnes I think might be able to become a winger at the top level eventually, but right now you can see that so often he is isolated from play on the wing. Comparing this season's performance to his performance on loan with West Brom as the No. 10, and second striker, it's clear he's often struggling to impact the game as a winger.

So both players struggle to consistently influence the game from the wings. I think they are still great players, which is obvious because they have both had great performances this season, but their continued struggle with getting into a game and influencing it from the wings shows that the strict positional possession play Rodgers has in mind for them isn't what they thrive on.

They don't offer enough regardless.

First of all I agree with Mark that Albrighton has been better for us on the left.

Secondly, I mentioned this last season when Barnes first come into the team but he offers Chilwell nothing. The amount of times Chilwell has nowhere to go so has to go back is unbelievable.

We desperately need a quality winger. But for the rest of this season I wouldn't play with wingers again.

Albrighton simply isnt good enough.

Gray isnt the answer but, for me, he has looked sharper than the other 'wingers' since the restart.

Perez i still think will improve and barnes seems to of forgotten what to do, literally offers nothing at all!

When i look around the premier league, there's so many players in those positions that would get in our team. We badly need to invest in that area this summer regardless of where we finish this season!

Having him on the right gives him the option to vary his crosses... you play him in the left he’s cutting back onto his right and floating a ball in, on the right he’s able to mix up his delivery (either way he’s not good enough and there’s literally no point using a player like him unless we’ve got a target to hit in the box like a Howard/Slimani)

I'm starting to agree on no wingers, diamond with ndidi tielemans praet and Maddison and then vardy and iheanacho/Perez up front, forgot the flanks exist and try and pass through them again
