Realising that I know absolutely nothing about this Pakistan side.

Is this a strong team for them?

I think they're missing a batter, but they struggle away from home, especially recently. Abbass will do well in England, as he has done previously with the ball.

Is Gay really any better than Crawley?

Early days i know but the signs aren’t great

Making a few good entertaining starts , but really not pushing on.

I mean he's played a handful of tests so perhaps wait and see, Crawley proved he was consistently crap over years and years at both test and first class level. Even if Gay isn't the answer, there's still numerous alternatives to consider before Crawley should even remotely be considered again

Yes.

If Crawley got so long then he deserves a chance.

Cannot keep changing like we did when Strauss retired and poor old Cook seem to have a different partner each series!

Gay is definitely worth sticking with.

Crawley was given plenty of time, probably too much.

I imagine EG will go to South Africa, hopefully he does well & has a long career.

Shame that. Brook looked good for the ton!

Annoying, he's been suffering from a failure to convert 50s to tons for a while now.

Something of a collapse now, but the hard work has already really been done, don't expect this one will last much beyond tomorrow.

Good read. Aggers always makes a lot of sense.

Very good read.

Brook has always been special - as Aggers said, easily the most naturally talented bat England have had since KP and someone every other team should be made to fear - it's just the hope now that he can combine that talent with with nous necessary to move him from magnificent to one of the legends of the game.

Definitely. I suppose 'Bazball' suited him to a degree. However, as Agnew said a while back, is was never sustainable, a short term project.

Brook can leave the fireworks for the white ball game & then park it for Test cricket to a large degree. Although he scored a run a ball 90 odd yesterday, without too many risks.

Time for Smith to go???  Not a good keeper & a plummeting test average??

Know we’ll end up winning but on TMS they said he should have kicked on BUT he was out stupidly and Jofra did what Smith should have done.

Smith should have got 50+ there

Smith is a bit of an enigma for me - his Test average is about 40 which isn't bad at all for a reasonably dedicated no.7, but then you do wonder if he could do better than he's doing, as well.

Foakes clearly the better keeper but evidently England haven't picked based on that merit for a long time.
