22/23 Season Some Key Dates

Recommended Posts

https://talksport.com/football/980402/

Top-flight fixtures will begin on August 6 before a break to the campaign starting on November 14

International players will be able to represent their national teams at the World Cup, with the final being played on December 18.

The Premier League will then resume on Boxing Day, which means a swift return for players who reach the latter stages.

The season will then be concluded on May 28 and the FA Cup final will take place the week afterwards.

Players will get some time off before they begin pre-season with their respective clubs and no disruption to the sporting calendar ahead of the following season.

8 days seems plenty. Celebrate on the 18th. Fly back on the 19th. Have a couple of days with the family and rest and then back to training on 23rd.

Should about balance out, the bigger clubs with bigger squads will be fine and the smaller clubs with less internationals will be fine.

Thank god for non league next year, I can't believe this world cup is actually going to happen and countries are going to participate. Embarassing for any club or player that claims to have a social conscience.

I reckon they should play the League Cup whilst the World Cup is on. Most teams rest players any way, and it could help avoid the fatigue and fixture congestion.

Lower league clubs would struggle if they got through though. There's a reason Championship clubs don't play on international weekends, as well as some League One ties even being postponed due to international call ups...

You'd like to hope someone, somewhere is planning a rather large marketing campaign around this.

Taking away all the negative connotations around the world cup, and as demonstrated by Notts County at the weekend, this could be an opportunity to have sell out crowds at every non league game for over a month.

The long lasting effects of that on those clubs and the communities they represent could be incredibly positive, whether it be attracting new players to the under age groups or attracting fans who might come three or four more times in 2023 during international breaks.

It's a great opportunity. Coalville have seen quite a decent increase in our average attendance this season compared to 2 years ago and I think that's down to fans of pro teams coming down last season just to get a taste of football. A lot of people enjoy it a lot more than I think they expect to.
