I do think he probably had one good season, and that's got everybody rating him so highly, when he's probably just an okay centre half and nothing more.

That's the trouble with people in this Country, a player plays well for half a season and suddenly they're the next big thing. Consistency is the main thing in football and what separates the good players from the average.

Aka Michu! I wonder Swansea ever regretted not selling him for the £25 - £30 million that Arsenal offered.

Loads of one season wonders:

Andy Johnson

Roque Santa-Cruz

Pappa Cisse

Benjani

Asomah Gyan

Mido

Robinho

Benni McCarthy

Mikkael Forsell

Marcus Stewart

Anr Zaki

Michael Ricketts

Saido Berahino

Andrey Arshavin

The list goes on and on.

We've had loads of players off it this season. Cags isn't the only one. N'didi, Tielemans, Castange, Evans, Barnes, Kasper...etc, have all not been at the same levels. Add to that the likes of Bertrand and Vestergard bringing the overall quality of our team down, then it only will lead to a decline.

The Fofana injury hit us hard. He's a major source of confidence for us, not only because of how good a defender he is, but also how good on the ball he is. He gives the rest of the team confidence that he will sort out the back and others can get involved further up the pitch. Without him, we've looked nervous at the back, especially when playing out and we end up trying to play too safe and put ourselves in a hole.

The positive effect Fofana would have is absolutely on the nail, and it must have been a huge psychological blow to lose him in the way we did.

But putting it in perspective, it's easy to forget that Fofana only joined us in the New Year and wasn't expected to go straight into the team.  Also, our overall team performance declined over the second half of the season after a brilliant first half.  So we can't pin our poor performance this season on Fofana's absence, nor can we expect (but we can hope) that his return will trigger a massive upturn in performance.

Drinkwater was carried by Kante in 15/16, I will say that to my dying day. He should send Kante 15% of his weekly salary, as Kante is the main reason Drinkwater got that big money  move to Chelsea

Drinkwater was pinging some sensational passes that season. Yes, Kante helped him massively but to say he was carried is totally unfair.

This is a mind-bendingly terrible opinion.

Maybe that's the reason he flopped at Chelsea becos' Kante said 'ffs I am not gonna carry you now/again in a different club'

Well they played together at Chelsea so by your theory they should have carried on the same way as at Leicester?
