Sometimes as DM he get out of position People more readily accept his mistakes at CB because its not his natural role and it would be absurd to judge him too harshly for being out of position there. However, he was largely at fault for the only goal Watford scored. He was nowhere near where he should have been and went diving in to cover and left the space he should have been in entirely unmarked. Again, not really his fault, he was doing what he's done his whole career and that was moving towards the ball instead of holding shape. It's what he's been valued for up til now. He's had two games there. One against the worst side in the top flight by a country mile, the other as part of a 3 where there was less pressure to hold a definitive shape (although I think he might have played Kane on side?) He's 10000% never going to be a top flight centre back. Its ludicrous that some on FT are getting carried away thinking he's suddenly been reinvented. He's been an absolute credit to himself helping out in a bind and, yes, he's looked better than a hideously off form Vestergaard but legs not go further than that. He's a ball winning midfielder and we don't really need one of those. Sell him if there's good money on the table or wait til the summer if not. Loan is poie, though, we need all the bodies on deck we can get atm. 2
SheppyFox Posted 22 January 2022 Posted 22 January 2022 Nobody should be going anywhere, even our lesser considered players. Not until we get significant reinforcements, which looks to be at best the summer.
lcfc sheff Posted 22 January 2022 Posted 22 January 2022 I’d rather we kept him as our utility man but can accept he’s gonna want some game time, ideally he signs a new deal and gets sent out on loan but probably won’t happen like that.
An Sionnach Posted 22 January 2022 Posted 22 January 2022 Hamza is , and has been for four years, a squad player. He has never complained about that as far as I know. He plays for a major club and if he left here for more game time , he wouldn't. I think Dan is the same, its easy to slip away to obscurity if you leave. They are both doing a valuable job at the moment and I think Rodgers appreciates that. Not every player is a nailed on starter and they know it. He could be pretty useful over the next three months so I think it would be best to keep him here. 1

There are apprentices in the Scottish second league earning more than that.
RowlattsFox Posted 22 January 2022 Posted 22 January 2022 (edited) I think long term he should be moved on, despite his decent performances recently. But no way right now. Unless him leaving gives us money to use elsewhere. Edited 22 January 2022 by RowlattsFox

I know it is about what is in the best interest of the club, but he deserves to go and build his career.
Claridge Posted 22 January 2022 Posted 22 January 2022 Been solid for the last few games, but will never be a regular starter when we have a fitter squad(if), so anything more than 12 million or 5 million and Vestagard-sell

We need a reliable bench and along with Amartey , he can come on and do a job for us when needed. 1

Probably true but we are never going to improve the overall squad if we keep players like him around to fill in as and when. Someone has to leave to make room. Can't remember how many homegrown players you need to name in your squad so may have go keep him around for that reason.

I don't see how we can afford a squad of players of the highest class, that would cost us 200 million a year in wages alone. If Dan and Hamza were not PL class of course they would be no good to us but they can do a job at this level , they will never be stars but then neither has Albrighton been and he has done a great job overall for us.
Dan Posted 22 January 2022 Posted 22 January 2022 Would be complete insanity to loan him out at the minute. 1
