Appreciate the info guys, but I think most of us are at a little bit of a loss for whom this refers to 🤷‍♂️

Any idea when it might be announced they're off? We do seem to be revamping the backroom staff a bit at the moment. Currently no Head of Recruitment, or full-time U23s Head Coach.

Paul McGuinness still hasn't been updated as Head of Academy Player Development though, so not as if the Official site is the most reliable 😅

We’ve literally given you his name, but either way he’s the head of medicine. Going at the end of the season.

Are we bringing in another head of medicine or going back to our previous set up of having a head physio and a consultant Sports Dr?

Shamus is actually a good coach. My son is in U11s and has had Shamus for part of this season.

Yeah sorry should have pointed out I wasn't having a go. Just wondered if he was related.

No worries. Just saying he's actually decent. Good with the lads and his sessions are generally pretty good. Mainly does U12s since Christmas though.

Believe its a head physio that'll be in charge.

As I pointed out this is significant because Rodgers made the call on sacking rennie and appointing English.

Quite incredible that he's managed to swerve any of the blame and I stead Congerton and English are taking the fall. Definitely nothing causing these injuries though except for bad luck.

Ha, I thought you were referring to his nationality! You're right, never go by the Official site, after all:

https://www.lcfc.com/teams/staff/medical-staff

He's not even mentioned as part of the medical staff!

You'll have to excuse my ignorance - I've only ever seen Bryan English mentioned in news articles when he was hired, early last year. No other mentions of him really, so easy to miss.

It will be interesting how things pan out with the new appointments and structure. Bearing in mind the appointment of a Head of Medicine/Sports Dr was part of bringing our medical dept up to the level of most elite sports clubs/institutions around the world, it seems strange we're going back on that. Maybe the future will see us having a Head Physio and a Head of Sports Medicine as part of the structure with English being the fall guy.

That was certainly the pr they gave out - it was more that Rodgers wanted his own guy in who he trusted and he didnt trust rennie.

There's loads of staff missing from the official LCFC site for some reason. Can't be that hard to keep up to date like "training ground guru" does for all clubs

I also *think* that Rennie used to pipe up a lot under Pearson/others and tried it with Rodgers and Brendan wasn’t having any of it whereas Pearson let it happen.

Rennie piped up about the way Rodgers runs his players in to the ground and why they always get injured?

Dave Rennie was definitely part of the inner management circle back in the Pearson days along with Shaky and Walsh and was probably allowed to have extra input outside of the standard remit of a head physio.

After Pearson left I don't think DR was given the same scope with subsequent managers as he had previously. DR didn't like this from Ranieri onwards and hence it eventually came to a head with Rodgers.

Yep. Hence the *think* 😉

https://trainingground.guru/articles/kalogiannidis-leaving-chelsea-after-13-years-with-richmond-coming-in

CHELSEA Medical Director Dimitrios Kalogiannidis is leaving the club after more than 13 years, while Physio Ed Richmond is about to arrive from Leicester City.

Kalogiannidis has worked for the Blues since August 2010, acting as Doctor for the women's team, then the Academy and then the men's first team. In October 2022 he replaced the long-serving Paco Biosca as Medical Director.

He is leaving the club for family reasons, TGG understands. Richmond has worked for Leicester City for the last two years and comes in as First-Team Physio.

He worked for Crystal Palace for five-and-a-half years prior to joining the Foxes and was also a Physio with the Wales national team from 2017 to 2019.

Chelsea’s medical department has been overhauled since the takeover of the club by Clearlake Capital in May 2022. The other physios are Steve Hughes, who has been with the Blues for more than 20 years, and has been given the new title Lead Performance Physio, and Fearghal Kerin, who joined in January 2023 and is Rehab Physio.

Dave Fevre, who was the physio for Manchester United when they won the Treble in 1999, was working for Chelsea on a consultancy basis for a year but has now departed.
