I've done something silly and signed up for the Edinburgh marathon...

Cracking Marathon and a surprisingly quick and flat course apparently. Second fastest course in the world apparently!

No park run today. A bad week of running for me really, only managed 5k. Might be good for the body tho in the long run I suppose

I've skipped Parkrun today and already feel guilty. I've managed two 3.5k pre-work morning runs this week, that's it. I'm going to have to run in the god awful weather at some point this weekend.

Psyching myself up to do 10k now. Weather not quite as shite as predicted, should probably just get on with it

I'm going to do my long run tomorrow as normal in the pissing rain and wind as punishment for being a wimp today.

Just off to do Sense Valley park run in this muck.

Edited to say Sense Valley was cancelled when I got there so did Market Bosworth instead.

My watch didn't start for the 1st km either. Superb, really pleased. FFS

24.18 according to the parkrun site, which is a park run PB for ms as I've not ran one since the summer. It's 2 mins shy of my best 5km time though.

I was at Market Bosworth as well today and had a really good morning. Spent the whole time chatting away and was nice not to ‘run’ this morning.

Off out again tonight and doing a self navigated, no electronic devices 5 miler. Could be interesting  followed by XC tomorrow

I’m doing that one as well! It was the downhill first mile and flat course that made me do it!

Well that was ****ing hideous. 5.5k in just under half hour - no matter what direction I turned it was a headwind. Like running through ****ing treacle.

That's almost exactly what I did yesterday, but rather than it being because of the wind it was because I felt like crap.

Full marks for braving this though, I'm still in bed

I should have stayed in bed, but a pair of Balega Blister Resist crew socks landed with me on Thursday night and I've been desperate to give them a run out. Yes, I'm so sad now that I get excited by running socks.

Ended up doing the same yesterday 6.5k.

Certain directions was like running with a wall in front of you

Completely relate to this. Probably too early to say, but any good?

I wear super cheapo MoreMile socks, and the one time I bought a more expensive pair, whilst very comfy they wore out so quickly it really didn't justify the cost.

My new shoes are shredding my feet (despite being an updated version of what I had before) so might look at this again

I've spent late summer/autumn running in Hilly Marathon fresh socks which I love, great wicking and super fast drying but they are anklets (Hilly don't seem to make crews) and very little cushioning, so wanted something a but more padded and thicker for winter. Balegas always get rave reviews whereever I look - certainly the quality is there. No complaints this morning and the extra cushioning was nice but it was 15c out so probably a bit warm for them. Think they are usually between about £20-£25 a pair because of import costs but got then on Amazon Prime for £16 quid. Might give the Silvers or Hidden Comforts a go when the warmer weather comes back around.

I have found spending the extra money on running socks has made a lot of difference for me, comfort wise. I'm prepared to spend on Socks and Shoes, everything else I'm not too fussed about.

As for shoe upgrades - nothing more annoying than when you love a shoe to death and then the new release completely moves away from the version you are used to!

It feels like they've made them ever so slightly shorter and wider, which is really not very helpful of them.

Still, early days and they were much better the third time I wore them than on the first two occasions
