What charity (if any) do you give to?

I know charity shouldn’t just be considered at this time of year, but there does seem to be more of a focus on it around now.

It’s cold, it’s miserable and I can’t imagine being homeless and sleeping outside.

If you give to any charities, which ones do you prioritise?

I don’t know if it’s best to spread a little across a number of them, or give a chunk to one.

For the past couple of Christmases, I’ve bought £100 of Greggs vouchers and myself and my eldest have gone into London and given them out to people on the street.

Honestly, it feels a little awkward and patronising and I’m not sure what difference it actually makes. (I’d rather it make a real difference to someone than just make me feel like I’m doing something).

I also donated to the RNLI over a number of years, but that’s lapsed. Recently I’ve given to the Salvation Army and Centrepoint.

Is it better to give to big organisations? I feel my paltry donation may be swallowed up and not really make much of a difference.

So, what is the best way forward with donating - something personal, something local or a national collective?

Give to Menphys whenever I can in the unlikely event I have any spare money.

Also got my Amazon set up so a small percentage of every purchase also goes to Menphys.

A very worthwhile charity that did a lot for my brother when he was alive.

The UFS collection at the Brighton game will be for them.

Nice!!! I definitely won’t be at that game but that’s great to hear! They have a surplus of donations over Xmas but January is a struggle.

Noticed a few charities pledging to double any donation on certain weeks in December. Also to anyone who didn’t know. The government chip in with 25% as long as you pay income tax for a period of the year.Something like that anyway.
