Rodgers sends warning to unhappy players and then picks them all

He probably is in a difficult position, he’s right that we have players that need moving on, but he needs moving on also. It’s clear that a club like ours needs to constantly refresh players and manager, because improving contracts is not the answer

And why would they sign under a manager who doesn't want to be here himself?

How can anyone be happy or hopeful for the future at LCFC right now? From top to bottom, from board to pitch, from fitness to Scouting we have regressed almost a decade of progress. There is not a single area of the club right now that is going in the right direction.

We need somebody absolutely ruthless and fearless to come in and tell people what's up, otherwise we genuinely could slip further. I know this is dramatic but it's happened before to others and will happen again in future. I have no real reason to believe we are immune from it.

I agree, it's a cocktail of staleness that I think is caused by the club seeing players as assets in financial terms and spending what little money we have on trying to keep them here (as they did woth brendan) rather than moving players and manager on keeping things fresh.

Think this is because of the spirit of the team 14/15/16,

Unfortunately the squad is packed with players that we either didn't want to sell or other clubs either didn't want or couldn't afford.

An elite DOF worth their salt wouldn't have let us get into this position

Agree

Our DOF seems to recieve little to no criticism from us yet every player we've signed, every contract we've negotiated, renegotiated, every player we've recieved offers (good or bad) will have gone through that office and a decision made in the role.

The manager may have some input (Ranieri always used to say in press conferences that he coaches the players, he does not sign them.

For me, that role takes credit for many of the gems (the Fofanas, the Kantes, Mahrez, Vardy) but also the current mess with the squad depth/quality, contracts running down, players not moving on (assuming they are over paid?),

Although I'm hoping they can pull off some magic when we realistically need to make at least 8 signings next window when Perez, Vardy, Albrighton, Soyuncu, Evans, Tielemans, Maddison, Mendy, Vesterguard, Praet, Bertrand (there could be others) will potentially be leaving / not be of the level in next 12 months.

Brendan Rodgers has called on Leicester City to sell anyone who doesn’t want to be at the club during the January transfer window — including the seven players who are out of contract in the summer.

Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu, Daniel Amartey, Ayoze Perez, Nampalys Mendy, Jonny Evans and Ryan Bertrand will all become free agents in the summer if Leicester do not extend their respective deals.

And Rodgers has said he is open to the idea of selling any of the aforementioned players if they want to move on from the King Power Stadium.

Speaking ahead of Leicester’s third-round FA Cup tie against League Two side Gillingham said when asked if any of the seven players could be sold: “Well, some of that would be a club discussion really.

“I think that if someone doesn’t want to be here or someone wants too much money to be here, we have to be brave enough to say ‘listen, thank you very much and on you go’, because we are not a club with masses of resources that can facilitate every single players need, especially from a financial side.

“A number of these guys are down to their last year. We said before we’d like them to stay but there has to be a point in time when what they want is too demanding for us as a club and if the time is right, they have to move on,  then we have to do that and then look forward.”

Rodgers also revealed a few of the younger players at the club could be loaned out before Leicester’s next Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on January 14.

He added: “There may be players who want to play but in order for that teams have to want those players, so it is a bit of both.

“There may be some young players who need some loans, but we will see as we go through the window.”

Rudders should have already had these conversations with the players concerned and the Club should have made the decision to sell where there was no real progress on contracts 2 yrs before the expiry date.

Instead we have drifted, allowed uncommitted, disaffected players to stay around the squad which damages the group. So Rudders can’t escape blame here and it’s scary to think how much work needs doing in the Summer.

A lot of the names listed Youri, Cags, Perez have been comfortable at the club whilst the sun has shone, collecting their coin and as we have slipped down the league they they have waited for a big move / look forward to a big pay day when they sign for someone on a free.

Don’t get me wrong I will miss likes of Youri when he goes based on everything he has given but, we can’t afford to keep players who don’t want to be here.

That said I think BR is trying to use the media again for his own benefit.
