We’ve all been talking about this on here as a huge underlying issue, and it’s not really been picked up in mainstream media, or publicly mentioned by Rodgers.

I don’t have an issue with him saying this either. Players need a rocket up the backside.

But to get to this situation is so negligent by the board and Rudkin et al. Utter mismanagement of the highest order.

He shouldn't be allowed to still have an opinion on the running of the club

But it's OK for you to have one on how he runs the team?

With FFP regulations and us needing to get to a 70% turnover to wage ratio I imagine we are offering players reductions in wages and they're not happy about it. The turnover ratio also includes the managers salary by the way (it may be 75% - can't specifically remember).

Understandably those players will assess their options and think there are greater possibilities elsewhere. Personally think the club should have let some players go for cheap just to get them out but they've clearly not done that and that maybe what Rodgers is hinting at.

Weve got complete stalemate, other clubs don't actually want the players at the prices we're asking - reportedly we wanted 25m in the summer for soyuncu. It's a mess and I think we're being naive but it's important to remember Rodgers doesn't agree the contracts or set the asking prices. Needs to be sorted out very soon.

“I think that if someone doesn’t want to be here or someone wants too much money to be here, we have to be brave enough to say ‘listen, thank you very much and on you go’, because we are not a club with masses of resources that can facilitate every single players need, especially from a financial side

This was the key bit for me.

Money side affecting us again.

Are you looking for a more sophisticated answer than...yes?

Am I allowed an opinion on your opinion?

Ah right, so by that logic if Brendan isn't allowed an opinion then neither are you.

Stick to politics Brendan in future please.

My point was more that he shouldn't still be in a position to have an opinion on the club.

I'm a fan of the club so I'll keep that right, but thanks though

Sorry for insulting your Lord and saviour though. I understand it must be like a full time job trying to defend him nowadays

It's one of the most arrogant opinions I've ever heard tbh.

Edit: standard toys out the pram. Bloke who knows less about the running of the club than Brendan is allowed more of an opinion than him because he paid 30 quid for a ticket once whereas Brendan who's worked for the club for 4 years isn't. Normal island.

The biggest elephant in the room around this, is the managers salary with 2.5 years left to run. I wonder if he'd be interested in accepting a significant salary reduction.

I share his frustrations with the club for not just moving fringe players on and taking the hit last summer, it was baffling and completely contradicted the position we were in on being hampered by having too many players / spending too much on wages.

I'm just extremely nervous that Rodgers attitude and public messaging back in the summer had to have contributed to the crisis we suffered and the worst start to a PL season on record and we're 3 defeats on the spin once again and the reaction from him on certain topics is starting again, we could quite easily be facing relegation if he worsens this implosion once again.

I can see why he's doing it and understand what he's saying to a degree but his priority right now has to be to get everything out of his players in the short term. Brown nose them, motivate them, inspire them, whatever. We are in a world of shit right now, although the media don't see it that way, like they didn't see our top 4 status under threat 2 seasons on the spin. This side, the manager included, has proven it has absolutely no bottle and will self sabotage when the pressure mounts.

Brendan's in completely the same square isn't he and the club have had at least two offers for him that they didn't accept so it's on them rather than Brendan really.

Main question is why don’t these players want to stay at the club? Good experienced assets gone for nothing.

Kasper

Soyuncu

Tielemens

Evans

Rodgers once again making out it’s for the best of the club. But he gave up 2 years ago, he’d jump at the chance if another club came in for him. Probably why everyone else wants to leave

Club asked Kasper to take a pay cut to sign a new deal, I'd imagine they are doing the same with Evans.

Yes and no. The club rejected offers for him prior to this new UEFA bollocks that has caught us on the hop and we seem to be the only PL team that bothered by it. I don't think they'd stand in his way now if he an approach came.

Rodgers is rightly asking the club to move players on, I think there should have been a conversation as well where they shake hands on a few million pay off which will supplement his next salary elsewhere. We'll save best part of £10-15m over the next 2.5 years with a replacement on even half what Rodgers is on. The whole place has gone stale, he needs a new challenge as much as we need new impetus and ideas. With his track record I don't see how he is successful here again.

Newcastle was last year when they knew it was coming in....

I'd say more of the issue is that we seem the only club bothered by it and that's not on Brendan.

Nobody knows that for sure, no player has come out past or present and said Rodgers is the reason they have left / wont sign a new contract.

Take Cags for instance, his contract is out in the summer, he and his agent will get an absolute bucket load of a signing on fee from a new club. So why would he sign a new contract if he wanted to leave anyway?

Players like a new challenge and if yu are going to get a hefty whack of cash why wouldn't you take it?

Brendon is far from perfect, but he isnt the sole reason that players are now leaving for free.

He has every right to say what he has, as the quicker you get rid of those players the easy it makes getting new players in.

Did they know though, Rodgers has gone on record saying the financial issues at the club were not really quantified until towards the end of last season / after the season as he'd they'd discussed budgets etc.

So either this UEFA FFP isn't why we've had financial issues or the financial issues aren't what's causing this impasse and the club have planned for it from when you say they did.

He probably is in a difficult position, he’s right that we have players that need moving on, but he needs moving on also. It’s clear that a club like ours needs to constantly refresh players and manager, because improving contracts is not the answer

Agreed with respect to players especially. We have to identify and attain players and managers on the up. If there stock decreases then we face falling value and contact payouts. To make this work we have to consistently out perform others who are also trying to do the same. This hasn’t been the case recently. We should manage the running down of contracts better though and be more ruthless in following the strategy.  Football  is the most emotive of entertainment industries though and as fans we are often our own worst enemy when clubs run it as a business.

I didn’t say he was the sole reason for anyone leaving, that would be mad. I said one of the reasons. He certainly must play a factor.
