That one he skyed over the bar from about 8 yards out a few games ago typifies his time with us as far as I’m concerned

I think 8 yards put might be being kind, felt like he was right under the bar and defied science once again.

Genuinely interested - what fee would he have had to come in for in order for people to say that he was a good signing? Always gave his all, had his crucial moments for us, had bad runs of form like most of our team at times, was critical to our play during our runs towards 5th place when we were playing some sublime football.

I get that 30m feels like a lot of money but we've spent more on worse. He can't control the price. If he was brought in for 15m would you have given him as hard a time?

Three pounds fifty.

The problem with the fee is nt the value for money aspect, which was abysmal, but the real problem is that having shelled out £30m we were stuck with him.  We couldn't afford to replace because we had blown our budget.  None of that is Ayoze's fault admittedly.

I genuinely believe that if we had got this right hand side signing even half-right, we could have turned fifth place into fourth place twice and we would be in a very different position to where we find ourselves now.

Agree with this.

30m for what he returned in this climate wasn't necessarily awful. He had big contributions and was a good squad player when we were playing class football.

But we completely rely on our transfer model. Anyone brought in has to have a resale value of the same or higher for us to be able to keep operating at the levels we do. The fact he didn't have that and is ending up going for nothing breaks that model.

Alongside players like Ndidi (who's gone from 60m to hardly anything), we just can't sustain the levels we were at now. We had so much to build on and it's been dismantled before our eyes.
