Apparently he was around £16m not £30m.

Apparently it was nearer 30. This is an argument that never ends. Let it go, the complete duffer has gone, like a hump off Quasimodo's back.

I remember thinking 3.5 years ago what a great side we had and the only position we could feasibly improve on is RW.

I hoped BR and the club would go all out to get the best one we could, we signed Perez and the rest is history.

He always struck me as though he fancied himself as this great footballer, spending much of the time falling to the ground, he was so frustrating to watch, probably the most frustrating player I ever seen in the bodgers era

The only other thing I would add (in his favour), is that I do think before his injury problems started, Ricardo was at his absolute best playing full back behind Perez. Seemed like Perez not being a Mahrez or even Barnes type winger helped Ricardo. Maybe wrong and he would have been that great behind anyone but yeah, he played his part in the team.

As others have said, just nowhere near the output in goals and assists for a player who cost £30mill but the price tag was not his fault.

Yes, but I'd go back to the old proverb 'A Diamond will still shine even if covered by a turd'

Fair lol. Na I think the team was well balanced that season until covid and Ricardo was injured. Bit like Simpson and Mahrez the dynamic was different to Fuchs and Albrighton.

Genuinely interested - what fee would he have had to come in for in order for people to say that he was a good signing? Always gave his all, had his crucial moments for us, had bad runs of form like most of our team at times, was critical to our play during our runs towards 5th place when we were playing some sublime football.

I get that 30m feels like a lot of money but we've spent more on worse. He can't control the price. If he was brought in for 15m would you have given him as hard a time?

Perez?

“He’s played his last game for the club. He had offers to go to other PL clubs. It was his dream to go to Spain and he will finish his career in La Liga. He was fantastic for us. Big part in two 5th places and FA Cup, his big block in the final. Great lad to work with. He’ll play with Manuel at Betis.”

If the cnut was free I'd say we were robbed

probably if he had came on a free. even then i'd only say he was good just because of 3 moments at the club

Mendy gets nowhere near the hate and like Amartey has a weird element of the fan base who treat him as a cult hero despite him generally being pretty crap and costing £12m so I think £12m is probably about right.

But then people also never mention Benkovic as being one of our worst ever signings despite costing about £15m and never playing

Perhaps because now as a midfielder he contributes in different ways, unlike Perez who mainly contributed by giving the ball to the opposition or falling over in powder puff fashion 🤣. God he was awful.

Largely played out of position here, similar to Joelinton was prior to Howe joining.

I think I'll use the "he'll be better under a new manager" line which the same posters seem to use for the underperforming rubbish we've got here.

If it's good enough for others it's good enough for Perez.

I liked him, there was a role for him in a more attacking side with more interplay up front.

He was frustratingly lightweight, but no worse in this regard than Daka

Still for £30m he has to go down as a flop, but not a hateable one.

Just picked this one to reply to, could of been anyone.

Helped us get to and win an FA Cup

Helped us get past Eindhoven and eventually reach a European semi

Helped us get the PL away record score.

There are dozens of ex LCFC players who have have cost a fortune (in real terms) and have given a lot less, too many of you have been spoilt.

I wish Albrighton had played more on the right hand side than Perez in Rodger’s first season. Whatever the price tag was, being between 16-30 million, he was average at best. Kicked the ball like he had underdeveloped legs, but was an intelligent player on occasion and had nice touches. I will likely forget you Ayoze, except for your part in the daily re-watch of my favourite ever Leicester goal.

Very true, but even in his better position, he was hardly startling and at best a bench player.

Being fortunate to be standing somewhere when the ball hits you stretches the term help to very dubious levels. Also, the amount of playing hours he actually got, the law of averages would say that he had to do something right occasionally amongst the remainder of the dismal contributions.
