SystonFox Posted 2 December 2005 Posted 2 December 2005 so far £160 and still got a few bits to get. although i dont see the point in spending much, this year ive bought her a phone but if there was something she wanted for £20 and it'd make her happy i wouldnt be embarrased to tell you lot im only spending a score.
Katy Posted 2 December 2005 Posted 2 December 2005 Well so far i've spent £170 and i havnt got everything yet but it will be so worth it !!! How much u lot spending? You crass bugger Tom I havent added it up as I dont think its hugely important how much you spend on people at Christmas, just being with the people you love and care about is the most important present ever
davieG Posted 2 December 2005 Posted 2 December 2005 Does it matter? Surely it's the thought and appropriateness that's more important, anyone can spend loads of money if they've got it, there's nothing special about that. Demonstrating that you've noticed a real need I would hope carries more weight.
Random Burglar Posted 2 December 2005 Posted 2 December 2005 I really believe in the fact that its the thought that counts. Its always going to depend on how much you earn. Im a student and iv spent near on £70 on my girlfriend. I physically dont have the cash to spend anymore. Its going to be different to someone who earns alot more, as a proportion of their wages its going to be a much higher amount. So all in all it really doesnt matter.

Saying that, I have 2 kids aswell as a wife so I probably won't spend much on her (£40) and spend most of my cash on the kids!
The People's Hero Posted 2 December 2005 Posted 2 December 2005 I'm skint so I'm really looking for something thoughtful which she'll really like and won't rush me more than about a bullseye.

Thracian Posted 3 December 2005 Posted 3 December 2005 We've never been very materialistic and the older we've got the more pronounced that has become. Perhaps one of the most appreciated Christmas presents I ever got for my wife was a framed painting of our old alsation, now gone, but who gave us so much joy. The painting was commissioned from a friend and would have cost a nominal amount. Another time I cut out and framed a collage of family and friends photo's, showing them in situations which reflected their personalities. This would also have cost next to nothing but still hangs opposite the dog picture in our lounge years later and my wife still comments on the pleasure it gives her...far more than things that cost a sizeable sum yet were briefly used then forgotten. Finally, a Christmas present I would hate to lose was an impomptu gift from a dear and close friend and would probably have cost her nothing. It's a hand-knitted teddy-bear in the form of an old Leicester City supporter - in full kit - with arms outspread celebrating a goal. I found it had slipped down the back of my juke box quite recently and returning it to it's rightful place on top coincided with the start of Leicester's climb back up the Championship table!. Like DavieG says, it's thinking of something special to the person that matters - not the cost.
Cat Burger Posted 3 December 2005 Posted 3 December 2005 I haven't got a girlfriend but I'm spending about £47 on her.
