Your Open Letter To The Club

From Premier League winners, FA Cup winners to being relegated. The club is in a mess. Non-Football people making football decisions. People out of their depth making big decisions that have come to haunt us.
 

Players worth millions of pounds which are going to be let go for nothing. A training ground that has done the exact opposite of what it was expected. An injury record that has gone from the best to one of the worst.

 

Players that will be leaving for a lot less more than their actual value. Players good enough for established European clubs being publicly ostracised and hung out to dry. A manager that would throw anyone and anything under the bus to save his own ego. Comments swept under the rug through loyalty. Not taking any action before it was too late, when everyone else could see things weren’t going to plan.

Poor signings of players on ridiculous wages. An arrogance of completely ignoring the model that had made us the club and team that we once were. Step by step the core element of quality individuals behind the scenes have slowly left. Why didn’t that set the alarm bells ringing?
 

Lifelong and loyal supporters banned. Supporters having to show I.D to collect tickets. Loyal fans that won’t be returning. Tickets not being made for general sale when the team has needed support, for those fans that couldn’t afford a season ticket or pay £70 for the privilege of having a chance to apply for a ticket.
 

The commercial side of the club being prioritised over the playing side of the club. We had the perfect model, and within a few years it’s been turned upside down and we are now almost unrecognisable to what we once were. Loans against future payments that will now not be received. The list of worries could go on and on. 
 

The mismanagement of the club over the past 18 months has been an absolute disgrace. You only have yourselves to blame. The fans have been there week in, week out. For some enough is enough. The fans are the life and soul of this club, yet many of us have never seemed so disconnected.

What's sad is that these players will go back to Seagrave which is basically a 5 star hotel, enjoy all the facilities, play some golf, go out on the lash, spend their usual 10k on new clothes and not give a flying fuchs, whereas we're all angry/sad/disappointed, ruined our week and face the realisation of Championship football next year. Oh and still have to grind it out at work.

Dear LCFC

After we get relegated, which is unfortunately very likely now, please invite Netflix in to do a fly-on-the-wall documentary about the internal workings of the football club.

As a life-long City fan, I am dismayed at the lack of transparency that has been given to the fans regarding how on earth we’ve become such a well-run club, to the apparent antithesis of this within a few years.

I would be fascinated to see how individuals such as Jon Rudkin and Susan Whelan go about their day-to-day business and the roles that they perform. Also, how relegation may affect the livelihoods of some of the other employees who will surely suffer due to being demoted. And the plans for stadium expansion… will they be put on hold?

Finally, in terms of the playing personnel, which players would be staying and which would be leaving in the summer. Their thoughts on this season and the future would be interesting to hear.

‘Sunderland till I die’ was a big success, both for Sunderland football club and for Netflix. I would like to see a similar thing done at LCFC.

Rubbish. Watch and analyse the game properly and stop writing headlines like that which you know makes fans pile on with negativity. Play like that and we’ll be absolutely fine. Created numerous brilliant chances and win comfortably on another day.

I would add that I have never been a fan of all the 'match day experience' stuff like clappers, t-shirt cannon, fan cam, someone outside the ground butchering wonder wall etc. but when you have a team that is successful it is tolerable. When the football is horrendous it just highlights how disconnected I feel from the club.
