Hi,

Full disclosure I'm not a Leicester fan but my nephew is.

He's never been to a live game before so I've agreed to take him to the Plymouth one in a few weeks and have managed to get tickets.

I've never been to the King Power before and dont know Leicester at all, so would appreciate any advice in terms of getting to the game from Hinckley, places to eat or avoid, best time/place for him when to try and get autographs or visit the club shop or anything else worth knowing?

Thanks in advance.

The train from Hinckley to Leicester is frequent and fairly cheap.

Sonrisa is a great Argentine restaurant, maybe overkill edit your nephew. Maurizio’s is a nice pizza/italian restaurant - maybe more like it.

The ground is a ~ 25 minute walk from the centre.

Autographs, don’t know on that front, post-match by the main reception (West stand, riverside) is probably best?

I've used the 148 Stagecoach & 158 Arriva Ashby Road* to West Bridge - short stroll along the canal

* Corner of Ashby Road / John St  or opposite and just down from the Cemetery

They're not 100% reliable and the Stagecoach is just a single decker so fills up very quickly on the way back.

My son gets the train from  Narborough and has found it unreliable on the way home and had to get a taxi a couple of games back.

I've ended up driving to Narborough and going in with my son in his car.

You just have cross a few fingers for any public transport.

They live on Ashby Road (near the Asda) so that sounds like an option.

Is parking an option near the ground? I'm assuming it'd be a nightmare getting in and out.

A 20 or 30 minute walk to the stadium is fine as he's 12.

I'd love a good curry but don't think he'd be too keen.

As it's his first ever game I kinda feel eating from a burger van is appropriate.

How did you get tickets for the game? Plymouth is my dad's local team ( they live in Cornwall) and I really wanna go to the game!

I couldn't get ticket's for Leicester (you appear to be selling out most games) so will be sat with the away/Argyle fans. I have family in Devon who have fan memberships with them so used that. Not ideal for the nephew but best I could to.

Ahhh ok no worries. Don't want to be in the away end, maybe I'll just try nearer the day

Hey

We drive in from Hinckley. We come up the A47 and then cut through Elmesthorpe to pick up the road into Narborough. We park either at the Saffron Lane Athletics track or by the park on Knighton Lane East.

If you get really stuck, give us a shout and we could always sort a lift as it’s only the 2 of us in the car.

...probably a silly question, but how come your nephew is a Leicester City fan and you are not!!!

Was that because you or your sibling relocated? Last question how was the title-winning season as a non-supporter, and also in respect of your nephew's and siblings' experience?

I've seen buses, trains and the A47 mentioned as routes from Hinckley but I've always used the M69 and parked off Narborough Rd near Fullhurst College. It's about a 25 min walk to the ground but usually easy to get away from after the match.

Wife's brother's son so not actually a blood relative but nobody is up for taking him to a game so I will. His Dad moved from Cheshire to Hinckley for work before he was born. I don't live in Leicestershire and have no connection to the club or area, just trying to do something nice for a good kid.

Assuming you mean your title win and not Argyle's League One title last year? If so, it was great to see a non big 6 team win the league but it was surprising.

I'm leaning towards driving in as don't know the area at all and public transport sounds like a faff, so this sounds like a plan.

Is it a set car park you use or just off street?

Thanks. I'll be honest none of these places mean anything to me but I'll take a look at them online.

Thanks.

...no, it will be parking on the street, (on or just off the Fosse Road)!!!

Google Fullhurst College, Fosse Road South, you can't miss it, looks like a stately house. If you park around there , it should be no problem. Just follow the crowd and it will take you there. It takes me 15 minutes to get to the ground from a bit further away.

Cheers. I expect you'll beat Argyle, just hope they get some consolation goals (seems to be the norm for them) and the lad has a good day out. You only go to your first game once and it's something you always remember so want to make it nice for him (as long as he doesn't cheer when you score and get us kicked out the away end or attacked by a few thousand angry farmer's).

Happy to buy him something from a burger van and the concourse if he wants it. Is it easy to get served at half time or is it a nightmare like most places?

There's decent parking on Freeman's Common industrial estate, it tends to fill up completely about half an hour before kick off.

Most parking is around £5, and it's a 10 minute walk to the ground from there.

Against my better judgement chose the bus today

Going there the bus was 15 mins late then we had 2 overtaking each other at every stop.. Got in as the Last Post was being played.

Coming home was awful. Rushed to West Bridge got there at 5.20, electronic sign indicated bus due at 5.25, never turned up.

Then it indicated 5.40 never turned up. There was quite a crowd now. Next one due at 5.55 turned up but was a single decker and sailed straight past - full up. The crowd thinned out as people had resorted to ordering taxis.

Next indication 6.10 bus finally arrived but again a single decker, manage to get on but was packed out , over loaded I suspect but nobody cared. Stood next to someone with a hacking cough in front of me and someone with a hand full of tissues behind me. Finally got home at 7.

My son meanwhile had left in a hurry to get the train to Narborough, I texted him to say I was still waiting for a bus to which he replied he’d just missed his train, saw it pulling out of the station and was on a bus in South Wigston saying he didn’t know how he was going to get to Narborough, I presume further trains were too late or non-existent not heard from him since, probably still walking home 😉
