Max is showing a drive that deserves a world championship so good

It’s still going to be a difficult drive from here given he’s on a one stopper. Those alpine’s aren’t there by chance either.

The red flag changes that :P

He's got lucky today.  Needed track position, stayed out, gambled and the red flag is the icing on the cake for him.

To be honest he has been fantastic, such a good drive, and put himself in that position to take advantage of that fortune

There needs to be a deep-dive in to what's happened with Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes since the summer break.

Last season was maybe up there with his best, he had no right placing that car 3rd in the World Championship below the greatest F1 car of all time.

Then he announces he's leaving for Ferrari and suddenly he's miles behind Russell in both Qualy and race-pace.  Then there is mysterious email confirming for many that Mercedes are all in on Russell and effectively sabotaging Hamilton to ensure Russell finishes ahead. Almost overnight Hamilton is once again the fastest Mercedes and back winning races.

However, since the summer break Hamilton can barely drive that Mercedes and is MILES behind his teammate in terms of pace!  I understand Hamilton has the car with the "upgrades" and Russell is driving the Silverstone spec but **** me it's mental how much Hamilton is struggling.

Completely understand Mercedes will want Russell ahead so they can assure their partners and sponsors that losing the greatest driver of all time and the sports most marketable driver is no biggy but blimey, it's a hard watch right now.  Whatever parts Mercedes are trialling on Hamilton's car right now doesn't bode well for them next year.

Hamilton hasn't fallen off a cliff this bad in less than 12 months.

We'll see what he looks like in a Ferrari next season...

Indeed, however if he really is washed then it will become extremely ugly against Leclerc who is far better than Russell IMO.

Ferrari will pull the plug after a season as nobody wants another Rosberg Vs Schumacher scenario to play out over multiple seasons.

Lewis was peak in 21’ to be honest to have that 8th title to be stripped from you would make anyone washed… if the Ferrari, I need to puck, is fast then Hamilton may get his brilliance back. Hamilton hasn’t been terrible blue this season ahead of Russell and just coasting imo… he still gets the best out the car like Alonso

Lewis might get that fire back, but when older like Alonso you just drift… Lewis, and I don’t think anyone can deny he deserved to be the best of all time with an 8th title, we will see if he can get it back in what will be a very fast car next season ..

I hate to say it, but he has had bad luck so far this weekend with the timings of the flags prior to the race. Karma in action I guess…

Brilliant from Ocon. I’ve no idea how they drive when it’s like this. I know the visual on the halo cam won’t be a fair representation but how can they see anything?!

Really is not at the elite level yet.

He is so young so will be… just silly errors, he has all the talent you would like to see… can he focus and cut out the mistakes and drive a car to a championship I think so
