I just think the FA is very particular about keeping groups of players together and typically prioritise players that have come through the age groups - realistically Lorenz Hutchinson should be in whatever age group he's part of based on form - but because he's never been in a youth squad he's up against it. This is why it was huge for Aluko to break in having not had that experience.

This is this years U17 group, the team going to the World Cup is essentially an U18 year group but named is U17 because of its qualification process of last season.

Be interesting to see how they get on, a team containing Rigg, Nwaneri, Lewis Skelley and Dibbling got knocked out by Uzbek 2 years ago lol 

 

@Aleksz what was the qualification process? Just looking back on fixtures look like they've either been playing in or qualifying for UEFA tournaments since the last world cup.

Not 100% sure, think England might have qualified by being the 5th best performing team at the U17 Euros in the summer. That’s usually the format in qualifying for the U20 WC (After an U19 Euros) and the Olympics (After an U21 Euros). 
 

PS. Read an article on Uzbekistan recently, they’re pumping a load of their oil money into their youth infrastructure now, expect them to upset the apple cart a bit more often!

Be interesting for Page and Evans as they had no involvement in that tournament or last months warm up friendlies at STGP

You’d have thought Evans should’ve been in the u17 squad already! Who else has scored the amount of goals he has at u21s level?

 

Page will boss it, will be like a man amongst boys with his physicality

England u21 is quite a high level side to break into, it has players who are playing first team football in the prem, championship, Bundesliga etc.

 

Players like Tyrique George, Nwaneri, Gittens, Jobe Bellingham etc all get regular minutes for top sides.

 

Even England U19s has Ngumoh, Monga, Max Dowman who have been starters at senior level, England u17 world cup is the right level for Evans considering he doesn't get minutes for us, hopefully he actually plays regularly.

Sorry I meant to say he should been with the u17s squad already and not just only been called up!

Both he and Page were playing at U20 level if I remember correctly?

They're really been drafted down to boost the squad, they've had no involvement in prior tournaments or the warm up games.

That the 2009 group the 2008 group are at the World Cup. England changes its squad age name every September with the school year to match the FA the rest of the world does calendar year. Their u17 doubt become u18 until Jan 1st.

Great cop out for Marti over the next few weeks now Page and Evans are in Qatar. Not that it would have made much difference anyway.
