Hope Okoli recovers quickly, otherwise it's Hamza as third choice centre back!

2 CB's injured in 1 game.

This is the result of a manager starving both of them of minutes and then suddenly giving them back to back gametime.

Do you guys remember when Cooper did that to Ricardo? Such poor management.

Sorry, but codswallop. Riccy needs minutes managed. Nelson did something similar to Youri a few years back and landed badly. And Jannixk ploughed into Okoli.

Its called load management. Doesn't mean there aren't other external factors as you've said, however the crux of the issue is playing lots of minutes back-to-back after a prolonged period of being bench warmers and sometimes even out the squad as a whole.

The correct way is to naturally bring those players back to full match fitness. Either that, or they should have been given minutes from the start of the season coming on for 20 mins or so to see out games.

You're right of course, but I just don't think these things were a factor in the injuries today.

If Nelson at his age can't start 2 games when called upon then he shouldn't be starting at all. Riccy i get. This had nothing to do with how he landed on his foot.

Yeah, had Okoli been starting regularly he'd have head butted Vestergaard's elbow into touch, got up and scored the winner.

Use your brain.

Will it be today we hear the extent of our cb injuries ?  Surely aluko has to make the bench if we are down to 2? I know he’s not a cb but he played there in pre-season at least

Okoli had played in the last four games, before getting injured in his fifth...

Is there a press conference today? There seems to be no mention of it anywhere...

That would be odd. It’s usually Thursday afternoons when we play on Saturday right? @moore_94

That used to be the case in the Prem. Not sure if in the Championship that home games have the presser the day before the game. Odd. Or they just can't be arsed anymore.

I think we have done it on both Thursday and Friday this season before Saturday games

If was definitely pretty much always on a Thursday before a Saturday game in the Prem

I think it can be either—there have been a couple on Friday before a Saturday game this season, I think. Maybe they're taking an extra day to give Marti media training to deal with all the questions he's going to face about the PSR charge...

Jakub Stolarczyk

Goalkeeper was substituted during the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough and missed the 2-1 win at Norwich City, and is expected to remain out this weekend.

We entertain Stoke City at King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

“He is getting better,” Cifuentes told reporters on Friday. “He is still working to recover. He will not be ready for Saturday but the positive thing is he’s feeling more confident and I’m sure he is not far.”

Ben Nelson

Centre-back Nelson, on the other hand, was withdrawn at Carrow Road before the international break and missed action for the England Under-21s as a result. The Academy graduate is ‘progressing well’ in his recovery and the Manager hopes to have him back in training soon.

“It was very unfortunate for Ben,” Cifuentes added. “He did really well in the 30 minutes against Norwich and in the previous game.

"It was an ankle issue when he landed. It will be some time but [he’s making] good progress. He’s working well and, hopefully next week, he will be on the [training] pitch.”

Caleb Okoli

Okoli, another centre-back, was also taken off at Norwich, but the Italian centre-back is back in group training ahead of the visit of Stoke in the Sky Bet Championship.

“It was a reaction with the impact on the pitch,” the Manager explained. “He’s getting better and he’s been training with the group.”

Viktor Kristiansen

A ‘small intervention’ was considered the best approach to manage  rehabilitation, meanwhile, with the Denmark full-back set for a period on the sidelines.

“It was very unlucky,” Cifuentes said. “In the game against Blackburn, it was an impact on his knee. He carried on for some minutes in this game, but it was getting worse and we had to sub him.

“It was not progressing well and the doctors and specialists decided it would take a small intervention. It’s going to take definitely more than few weeks.”

Aaron Ramsey and Harry Souttar

Ramsey and Souttar are also still out for the Foxes, but the injury list hasn’t been swelled by any issues over the international break: “Everybody [else] is okay. Aaron and Harry are recovering from their injuries but otherwise everyone came back in good shape.”

Eugh you’re probably right on that. Was it the watford game a few years back he played cb and was class?

Hamza was pushed into an emergency CB role 3 years ago in a very weakened side that nevertheless beat Liverpool.  Hamza played excellently and was singled out for praise after the match by Rodgers ... who promptly dropped him for the next game and I think that experiment hasn't been repeated since.  Make of it what you will.

Harry Souttar is back in team training working towards fitness after a long-term injury, Ben Nelson’s approaching a return to group work in Seagrave and Caleb Okoli is set for a spell out out action. Aaron Ramsey and Viktor Kristiansen, on the other hand, continue to work towards their own rehabilitation.

Goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk has been absent since withdrawing against Middlesbrough on 4 November and Asmir Begovic has come into the XI during that period as our No.1’s condition continues to be monitored in Seagrave.

“Jakub has been feeling better,” Cifuentes told the media on Friday, ahead of Saturday’s 12:30pm GMT kick-off against the Blades.

“Obviously, not much training but the good thing is he is feeling much better. We’re going to have discussions [around selection] and take the decision today.”

Okoli, meanwhile, will remain out with an injury sustained at Norwich City on 8 November and is expected to possibly be back in contention at some stage over the Christmas or New Year period.

“We were waiting for some tests to get an answer when he could be ready,” Cifuentes added. “Unfortunately, those tests came back with news he will be away probably for a few weeks with a knee injury.

“When he will be available for selection, it’s difficult to say if it’s before or after Christmas, but it will be around that.”

On Nelson’s condition, who also picked up an issue at Norwich, he said: “He’s feeling better and better. He’s been training individually in the last couple of days in the pitch.

“He's got good feelings and actually it has been more positive than we’d expect in the beginning and the plan is to start training with the team next week.”

Updating on the rest of the squad, the Manager also confirmed that Souttar – yet to feature for the Foxes this term – is back in team training. Ramsey and Kristiansen are also working towards returns.

“Everybody is progressing well,” Cifuentes continued. “Harry is training back with the team. It’s very good news for everyone but I’m glad especially for him after such a long period away.

“But obviously he will need to get some rhythm. Aaron is progressing well but not close yet and then you know the last [update] about Victor. Everybody [else] is fine.”

After having such a horrid backline for so long, having a new manager come in and play souttar and Nelson, is going to hit like crack
