No, the worst thing is that we go down and that puts us in a total financial tailspin. It's not like when going down to L1 last time turned out to be good for us because we'd stagnated and needed a complete reset.

 

And in the nicest possible way, it's incredibly naive if you think Top and his cronies have the humility to admit they have made mistakes and work on everything they did wrong as a result of dropping to the 3rd tier. If it hasn't happened already, it won't happen in this scenario

Your absolutely right they’ll never admit to any mistakes whatsoever but at least it’ll show the world how useless they are and it’ll bring more misery hopefully  !

Last time we got relegated it only turned out good because we appointed Pearson. Without that appointment who knows. A relegation is never good, a reset only works with the right manager.

Well their contracts have ended so if they stay they'll be technically new signings so 'in'.

The championship and EFL 1& 2 are effectively all run under the EFL. There are different measures within each league but all rules be it from Championship to 1 or vice versa will be easier to enforce than the Championship to Premier League.

Surely, a new contract does not necessarily mean "equal or better terms" particularly when you consider the season we'v just had.

The Club, with regard to wages, has to cut it's cloth accordingly and to suit the situation we are in, and that is the third tier of the football league.

 

The players should realise this although many won't be interested in that point of view.

 

Paying players the high wages they have become used to in League 1 is just not sustainable.

Okoli - £5m-7m

Monga - £6m-10m at most

VK -  £5m-7m - based on contract length - id drive him anywhere he wanted to get rid!

Hamza - £3m

Souttar - £3m-5m - couple of good games at the World Cup a Champ club will come in, which is a shame as I'd want him here as captain next season

Vietes - Anything is profit, probably go back to Spain

 

in terms of high earners only leaves us Jannik, Winks and BDCR and I have a horrid feeling we will get stuck with them.
