That statistic of Ecuador having 8 0-0’s under this manager could be ominous for others (us?) , if they dig in get the draw and gamble on winning the penalties.

Ecuador were brilliant. Worked so, so hard. Won the ball back constantly, won most 50/50s. It was like they had half a dozen N'Golo Kanté's on the pitch.

Great scenes and all that but they've finished 3rd and should be going out 

 

In all seriousness I guess this is the example of where 3rd place works because otherwise these 2 games would have been dead rubbers. Still don't agree with it though.

Works for the Euros i think as there is less teams it works, but when it could get to Saturday/Sunday and teams know they are both threw on a draw and end up with them farcical matches again, then ontop of that there's a chance teams may have less that 48 hours notice of who they are playing and where is a joke.
