I've certainly learned to trust his takes more than the happy clapping City fans in denial that quickly jump to claim he knows nothing every time he claims our finances are a ****ing mess. 

 

You could get away with that argument five or six years ago before the evidence presented itself but people still denying it now are unhinged. 

 

And that's exactly my problem. He operates constant doomsday scenarios to drive engagement, & that makes his analysis consistently wrong. I believe the kids call it 'Clickbait' or 'Ragebait'. It's not honest analysis, but it always works because disgruntled & frightened supporters will jump on it. It's pure engagement farming with conformation bias as its driver.

 

It's fundamentally dishonest. I hate them for it. Their (Maguire & Borson) public are football fans who are often scared &/or angry, & don't deserve to be mislead. What they do is pure old school tabloid tactics adapted into sound bytes for social media.

 

Maguire (in particular) was nearly always wrong with his predictions on our PSR case at virtually every juncture. And yet people still listen to him. Amazing.

I don't really know much about Borsan, but Maguire's whole thing isn't really about contacts. It's that's he able to analyse published accounts and financial statements and identify where there might be challenges, issues, problems etc. He might not get every single detail right but he was one of the first to report that we were in financial bother going back 3 years or so now.

I don't think Maguire was fundamentally wrong about what would happen to us with the PSR case. He just said how much we'd breached by and what the punishment had been in similar cases. 

 

That was a reasonable foundation for any prediction. 

 

Nobody successfully predicted that we were going to push back the charges the first two times because of loopholes in badly written legislation. We were the first to do it.

No, he constantly got it wrong.

 

He was as shocked as all of us when De Marco found that loophole. Before then he predicted an up to 15pt deduction.

 

Then after that, he predicted that the EFL would be 'vengeful' & hand us a 'record' points deduction. He then said that were would be charged twice with two sets of deductions. Which of course didn't happen. With some real digging I could go on.

 

This is his thing. Operating extreme case scenarios that turn out to be inaccurate. And this is just us. Lord only knows what he's been saying about other clubs.

There are governing bodies and now an Independent Regulator in place to analyse and scrutinise everything around a potential takeover. They have the power to adjudicate. 

 

Fans should not be expected to be the moral and social conscience of football when they have no say whatsoever in this matter.
