davieG Posted 30 December 2005 Share Posted 30 December 2005 filbertfoxy00: I e-mailed him yesterday asking if he realised the depth of passion of the football fan and that the present situation is unacceptable. Also I told him that I thought it was time that CL was relieved of his duties...here is his reply, does it mean CL is on his way soon? I fully understand the domination and impact on our lives .... my dad first brought me down to filbert street in the late sixties and i have been hooked since. I also know that we should as a minimum be at least challenging for play offs and not where we are. We have to in the short term do everything to get results . Kind regards Tim Read into that what you will

Craig Posted 30 December 2005 Share Posted 30 December 2005 Well, do everything we can, suggests to me that they'd be prepared to sack if they had to. Also, Tim isn't giving Craig any support there. And he also voices his own displeasure.

Scow Posted 30 December 2005 Share Posted 30 December 2005 I sent him an email yesterday, and this was the reply I received: Thank you for your support of the club and for your rational arguments andconcerns below. I am deeply concerned as you and sleep little in trying to find the solution and agree with many of your paragraphs. My main focus is now simple avoid relegation at all costs. I am not saying that this is acceptable for a club like ours, it is not but this is where we are now. I am not going to comment on individual players as Craig will be more aware than anyone of players capabilities and he will be as desperate as us all to win games. Subject to say I know Craig is aware of many of your points and working on them. One minor point re formations = opinion burnley play 4 -5 -1 and get results . Kind regards Tim

Scow Posted 30 December 2005 Share Posted 30 December 2005 This was the original email I sent him, it's fairly lengthy though! It's just bits and pieces I've already posted on here all merged in to one email. Dear Tim,I am writing to you to express my deep concern with the current situation at Leicester City. I am a season Ticket holder and a regular away follower, and it's time that the board and the management understand the general concerns of the fans. I have outlined my own personal feelings regarding the predicament we find ourselves in, which has been supported by a number of people on www.foxestalk.co.uk - the biggest LCFC online site on the net. - Levein has never fielded a consistent side. And, he has never solved the left back position. He goes out and purchases Gilbert for 200k, thinks he's not good enough after a few starts, and then ships him out on loan. Now we don't know the situation behind Gilbert, but I find it shockingly poor that Levein spends that much on a player, provides him with a chance despite not being match fit, doesn't do himself any justice based on that reason, and then finds himself shifted out. If there is another reason why Levein has seemingly got rid of Gilbert, then fair enough, but he's never made it public. So we'll judge him from the facts provided to us. - Set pieces, both offensively and defensively. We're slightly better than we used to be (defensively) but we rarely seem a threat from corners and free kicks. There always seems a lack of preparation and thought in to what we're trying to do. The Leeds away game recently highlighted our inability to react to defending set pieces. - Levein gives the impression he's tactically inept. He often plays players out of position, and he's far too cautious of the opposition. Take Reading last night. We need wins right now to lift us up the table, but he started with a negative 4-5-1, which gave us little chance of attaining a result. We may have kept it at 0-0 for 60 minutes, but we were not likely to hold out with our inability to retain possession and create anything in the final third. It was all too predictable. Losing to Burnley twice in the space of a month was another deep concern. Levein was outclassed tactically by one of our former Coaches (Cotterill) not just once, but twice! That cannot be defended. Neither can our set up at Wolves when we opted for an ultra negative 4-5-1. Ok, we attained a point, but the likes of Burnley and Millwall have both picked up 3 points there. Levein is far too cautious, and that is reflected by the obscene number of draws and narrow defeats we have suffered. - Levein plays too many players who simply don't cut the mustard. * Douglas - I've defended him, but I still don't think he's good enough. We need someone who provides assurance behind the back 4. Whenever I've seen Henderson (Derby and Bury away) he's been solid and reliable. I didn't go to the Cardiff away game in the cup, but apparently he was superb there, producing 4 world class saves, and still gets dropped, despite doing as much as he can to get in the side. So what if Douglas has played for both Celtic and Scotland, and played in front of crowds of 60,000 plus, that doesn't mean he should automatically command a place in goal. He's playing in front of less than 20,000 every week, so that argument shouldn't be used in favour of Douglas. He is becoming a liability with his dreadful kicking, and his rash decision-making. * Kisnorbo - He just isn't a footballer. His passing is abysmal, he has no positional sense, and is a liability when in posession of the ball. He also doesn't hold a footballing brain and often finds himself overrun in midfield. A half decent squad player perhaps, but nothing more. * Sylla - Frustrates the hell out of me. No consistency and often no work rate. He only plays when it suits him, and we can't have that in our team. He can be good on his day, but he doesn't have too many of those. * Hamill - Lightweight, average and non-effective. * Tiatto - Simply a liability. * Dublin - Fine as a centreback, but past it as a striker. Isn't justifying the wages he's on. * de Vries - Yes, he's our top goal scorer, but he holds us back. He has a good first touch and turning ability, but he doesn't have the pace or composure in front of goal to make a difference. * Hammond - I don't think he will ever be a consistent goalscorer. Plenty of running, work rate, pace and enthusiasm, but he doesn't have the killer touch. 300k on that looks very poor business, especially given our financial situation. I imagine we don't have the resources to draft anyone else in, unless the person who can improve our affairs isn't currently in a job. 20th position in the Championship at this stage is a disgrace, and that cannot be defended. I'm willing to persist with him for now, but if our current run continues, then we need to consider what direction we take. Don't forget, despite Levein cutting the wage bill in half effectively, he still has one of the biggest budgets in the division, a fact that you admitted at the start of the season. Look at Cardiff - a massive turnover of players in the summer and riding high in the table, with more constraints than us. Watford are the same to a lesser extent, with a new manager arriving late in to last season, saving them from relegation (Just like Levein) and then acting as play-off contenders this season. We've got ourselves in to a rut, with just one win in 10. We've not won two consecutive games this season. We've only won once away in 2005. We can't beat the likes of Brighton, Crewe, Millwall, and Burnley at home. At the moment, we're relying on the bottom 3 being so poor, and we can't keep doing that. We need to improve, otherwise we're in a dogfight until the end. Although I appreciate what Levein is attempting to do in terms of rebuilding the squad, now is the time to try and grind out some results. We have never fielded a consistent line up because Levein doesn't know his best XI - and we're 25 games in to a season, with a pre-season before that. We may have played well in patches recently, but that is not enough. If we settle for that, then we'll become another Forest. Where do we draw the line? Do we carry on and persist with draws at home against teams who are desperately poor? Do we persist with the woeful away results, which has seen us win just once in 2005? Do we persist with the fact we can't string a number of results together? Do we persist with the fact we're 20th in the table after half a season? Do we persist with a record with just 5 wins in 25? I seriously hope the board are assessing their options. I imagine it's not financially viable to sack Levein and his backroom staff, however, would it be financially viable to be plying our trade in League 1? I suspect not. Please reply as I'm interested in hearing your views on the situation. I understand you're generally responsive to the fans, so I look forward to your reply. I think he just forgot to put a ',' in the sentence. What strikes me about the email is that he fully recognises we're in a relegation battle, and he's made clear it's not acceptable. It's refreshing for the Chief Executive to reply in the way he has and be open about the situation.

ian27 Posted 30 December 2005 Share Posted 30 December 2005 Its really refreshing to have a Chief Executive reply like this to the emails hes been receiving, of which I imagine theres been a lot of recently.
