I think we'll bust a gut to win it - various reasons, not least trying to get to the third round and a chance to play a big team and bring some funds in

No centre forward available for the first competitive game. It's not good enough.

The thing is here, are we taking this seriously and going 1st team squad or not botherinng and treating it as a glorified friendly and maybe a few first teamers get a run out for a bit.

Wouldn't be a good start to the tenure to go out to a League 2 side, but in the grand scheme of things, there isn't that much money in a League cup run and, to say the phrase I always hate to say, our priority is the league here.

If the performances from pre-season are anything to go by, pretty much any line-up he puts out should be good enough to go through.

Every year, I've seen people say we shouldn't try in a cup. Even as a safe mid table team, people always managed to find an excuse haha. The worst was people saying "Every place in the league is worth £2m"

Hope we go strong, winning breeds confidence and there's absolutely no need to rest anyone that is fit.

My suspicion is that we go strong and still make it look hard work though lol

I suspect that you suspect that based on the last few seasons, rather than how we've looked in preseason - we've shown that unlike under any of the managers since enzo we actually can create chances are score goals against a team sitting deep.  I think we had xG of 2 or 3 in most games, and most of the teams we played sat deep.

I am interested in giving a chance to those who need to prove themselves not signings or star quality.

I know he's not liked, but can I ask why?

He’s a drink driver, went to that party during Covid at Perez’s house before the FA Cup final and is just an all round CU Next Tuesday in spite of that. He needs selling ASAP!

I actually think who ever decides to have these games first deserves a raise. Most clubs go strongest in their last game of preseason so why not add a bit of steel to the first round of this competition instead

I know nothing of drink driving, but i'll wager the vast majority of FTers aren't against him for that reason - if it were so they wouldn't be saying it in the context of criticising his ability as a footballer which seems to be the case 99 times out of a 100.  There is a mentality on this forum of 'group hate' where players are despised and their ability slaughtered just 'because' - for example the amount of abuse Skipp has got just in the last few weeks, despite having a great pre-season, same with thomas, guy made one mistake and the abuse is off the scale.

Don't condone what hamza is alleged to have done, but i don't believe for most on here that's the reason why they hate him.

FWIW, i think he's a decent player and i know nothing of him as a person, si I can't comment on what he's done off the field.  No one condones drink driving, but i also refuse to condone the mindless unjustified aggression towards players that is rife on this forum.  My issue is more general than with specific reference to Hamza.

I hope that clears things up.

I'd imagine he will start there tomorrow. It's what I'd do.

Already though now a competitive game has come around you're seeing the lack of round pegs in round holes again when it comes to actually naming an XI.
