The thread isn’t even asking is the club good enough for promotion its are we good enough for the league. Which quite frankly is an embarrassing question.

9 out of 10 of the most valuable players in the league gives some indication of what the other teams have at their disposal.

Average league one player value is 430k

Cardiff market value last season £27m

Bolton £21m

Lincoln £10m

Our current market value £55m

Given that most of these talented kids were coming through when we were a Prem club, most would probably be on loans to league one or 2 clubs if we were still a Prem team, then we have experienced professionals that have all played at higher levels.

The problem isn’t the squad it’s the shit mangers they keep hiring.

None of the sacked managers in recent years have gone on to better jobs and most are unemployed which tells you all you need to know.
This pleb will be joining the pundits list in a month or two when no one touches him with a bargepole

Marti maintaining his 1.33 win rate in his last 3 jobs even in the MLS

RVN back to coaching/assistant

Cooper sacked now doing sky appearances.

Rowett doing the same

More than good enough regardless of pace.

We still have some quick players like Howell, Watson, Aluko and JJ. They just aren’t used correctly.

Id say it’s still the best squad this league has ever seen, despite the change, transfers and decline of our club.

It’s not the best squad this league has seen from Leicester City and we have only been in it once before!

I think this shows you don't really understand what it's like for the majority of clubs in this league. They are not subjected to watching them weekly, and seeing what they actually are. From the outside it's much more about the reputation these players have. Majority of the clubs in this league are used to just getting players that have never made the grade at a higher level, and the idea of paying decent money is a completely alien concept.

Let's take some of the players you've listed:

Okoli - cost £13m and was in the Italy squad less than 2 years ago.

Thomas - started the FA Cup final as a teenager. 15 U21 caps. Nearly 200 games in the top 2 divisions.

BDCR - Majority of his career in the top 2 leagues. 150ish PL appearances.

McCarthy - Majority of career in PL. England international.

Bristric - Cost supposedly £2m.

Now, we know the real story on these players but when you are on the outside looking in, most of these players would be absolute marquee players for most clubs in this league

I’m really not sure that these players have got a good reputation. McCarthy and BDR did not have a good reputation when we signed them and I can’t see teams being bothered about the other 3 even at this level. And aren’t the fees irrelevant? A player is only as good as what they are showing on the pitch.

Mercury article today reckons this squad is good enough to compete in the championship…

Which championship..??

I hear the Championship in Djibouti is not particulary strong so maybe the Mercury has a point.

But they will have that reputation for most of the clubs in this league. Because they are simply not used to the idea of having players that have 'achieved' some of the things that they have. Obvs those 2 are clearly past their best but I can guarantee most of the fans of other clubs would have been chuffed if they were getting them based on their reputation. Then they'd read what we say and probably think a bit differently!

On the fees, that also feeds into the reputation point. If most L1 clubs were spending £2m on a player, they'd immediately assume they're going to be a beast in this League, and rightly so

Our squad is shit.

Do you want to know why? Because nobody with any football knowledge has built it over a set period.

They're just players thrown together and hope for the best. There's no thread to the squad, no spine, no direction, no philosophy, no passion, no pride and nobody with any experience of footballing success to instil any of that into them.

And then any manager will struggle with it. It's like an electrician being handed a bunch of spanners and being told to get on with it.

What if the manager is the king of spanners?

Done the classic Leicester and completely overloaded ourselves with one type of player, small, technical types without much pace. Had a chance to build a new team and all we had to do was sign one or two physical presences (fast or strong) and we didn’t, again

Hobbits united

Kangasniemi 6”6

Riss 6ft1

Bristric 6”2

ohara 6”2

smallbone 6”0

Lundstram 5”11

3 smaller players on permanents and 2 were basically free transfers
