Teeno Posted 23 January 2006 Posted 23 January 2006 Bloody heck all the news coverage over a bloody whale, how stupid. And what's even more pathetic is people mourning it's death, get over it.
Libertine Posted 23 January 2006 Posted 23 January 2006 Bloody heck all the news coverage over a bloody whale, how stupid. And what's even more pathetic is people mourning it's death, get over it. Agreed. It's sad that it died, but it's no different to any other whale or animal that dies, so why give this whale extra special emotion?
Milky Posted 23 January 2006 Posted 23 January 2006 Bloody heck all the news coverage over a bloody whale, how stupid. And what's even more pathetic is people mourning it's death, get over it. it is pretty pathetic, people are dying every day unecessarily, if you want to mourn something, mourn that.
Head Honcho Posted 23 January 2006 Posted 23 January 2006 it is pretty pathetic, people are dying every day unecessarily, if you want to mourn something, mourn that. It's not pathetic at all. It's our ability to show this kind of emotion that sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. I think Tony Parsons summed it up in the Mirror today! LOST WHALE, FOUND HOPE I CAN'T believe that people are already whining about the whale. How much the rescue attempt cost, how the whale kept Iraq out of the news, how we interfered with the "cycle of life". Do me a favour. If we failed to see the wonder, magic and tragedy of a lost whale suddenly appearing in the heart of London, then what a cold, sad, small-minded bunch we would be. The whale didn't make it back to the sea but his brief and unforgettable appearance in our capital will probably do more for conserving his species than anything in marine mammal history. Whale-lovers keep asking how the Japanese can hunt these beautiful creatures. Funnily enough, the Japanese ask the same thing about the British and foxes.

The thing is though was all the news coverage really needed, like for most of the weekend they've just bloody followed the thing, on BBC News it was constant live coverage. How boring surely there's more news.

Teeno Posted 23 January 2006 Posted 23 January 2006 Maybe it's just me but I had a lot more interesting things to do over the weekend then watching the bloody news! Same goes mate but my mum n dad had it on between me getting back from football and goin out. I understand why it had coverage, it was an amazing story but the over coverage and over the top emotion surrounding it was a bit silly.
