Chapman! Posted 22 February 2006 Posted 22 February 2006 Eh, I'm for the ban, but even I'm cofused by this post!!! your not the only one!!
Babylon Posted 22 February 2006 Posted 22 February 2006 im sorry but most of you are so anti smoking that you are missing my point, i have not said that i will not be buying a season ticket, what i said was i would think hard about it, and then make my decision, i do not need to give up smoking to buy a season ticket, i already have 6 of them!! as for it being anti social, i can not disagree with that, but there are many things i find anti social, but i do not try and get them banned!! as for it not really afecting the club if smokers stayed away, i think you are so wrong!! just say 500/1000 people did not renew, thats alot of money!! as for non smokers taking thier place i dont think that would happen because we already have a non smoking area, and its never full!! yes i can go for 2 hours without a fag, but i bet some people cannot. buy the way pressure from my kids means that i will be doing my best to give up!!!! 500 to 1000.... I REALY REALLY REALLY doubt it. If it did happen the club could still make more money. The remaining smokers will get all twitchy about not having a fag and go and buy a pie or burger. If 2500 smokers did that each game it would outway 500 season tickets.

Guest Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 There are some interesting arguments in this thread, and there are some really stupid ones. To paraphrase...."What difference does one ciggy make when we have cars and buses polluting our clean air". That has to be one of the most pathetic reasons yet. It's like people who drop litter and say "it's only a chewy wrapper, it's nothing compared to the rest of the crap blowing round the streets......". Do you not realise it's adding to the problem? Why do firms who think "we'll dump our waste into this little stream, it's not like the rivers are clean anyway" receive massive fines when they are caught? Given the logic of some people on here, we may as well abolish prosecuting big polluters! As for your "harmless" little ciggy, how many other people thinking the same thing do you think it takes it becomes a problem?

I'm sorry but, people are trying to use pollution as an excuse for banning ciggerettes are hypocritical and that is the point. I don't doubt that it is a problem but its a drop in the ocean compared to cars and buses, you cannot use p[ollution as an excuse unless you cycle everywhere.
Guest Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 was this post aimed at me, i have not said its harmless, i am a fisherman as well as a football fan so you can guess my views on water pollution. No. You haven't tried the 'pollution' argument. Your drop in the ocean, every X hours/minutes, combined with everyone elses drops in the ocean don't amount to anything then? You've totally missed the point, which I expected. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Strokes Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 No. You haven't tried the 'pollution' argument. Two wrongs do not make a right. I'm not suggesting they do, but it's bit rich to preach pollution from a ciggerette, whilst driving round in the biggest petrol guzzeler you can afford(not aimed at you personally). All i am saying is don't bring pollution to the table as it does't hold any weight if you drive a car.

You can't be sure 500 people will can you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus think it over. As for my maths.... I think you should do your maths again. £320 x 500 = £160,000 2500 x £3 = £7500 x 22 Games = £165,000

All i am saying is don't bring pollution to the table as it does't hold any weight if you drive a car. I didn't bring pollution into it, it was the smokers who did that. All non-smokers want is not to have to breathe in your noxious fumes. In fact many smokers don't want to breathe in their noxious fumes any more than they have to. The number of times I've been in a pub or club, and someone else's fag is under my nose as the offending smoker has their arm outstretched away from them. Or even worse, in a restaurant. And it does happen. Quite a lot.The biggest irony is when you have a smoking carriage on a train; noone ever sits in it. However it gets used a lot. If you ever ask someone "why don't you just get a ticket for that carriage? Save all that exercise" you get "Oh no, it stinks in there" as a response. So if there are plenty of smokers who can't put up with the smell, why should non-smokers suffer?

Firstly you are assuming that there would be 500 + people not renewing. So I can also assume what I like.

I agree with all of these, i don't want to force non-smokers to breathe my toxic air but all i ask for is a smoking area at the walkers which is outside, i could accept the ban from the goverment but what really rattles my cage, is the delight people took when holding up them red cards, it was pure and simple power lust it really made me wish some horrible things.

I don't know why they don't do what they do at Derby; open the exits and let the smokers go outside.Given the choice (and we were) then I was always going to go with a smoking ban, and I must admit I took great delight, but it had nothing to do with the power lust, it was relief that I will be able to breathe at half-time. Even outdoors, smoking aggrevates my asthma further.

trueblue1 Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 Firstly you are assuming that there would be 500 + people not renewing. So I can also assume what I like. I did not assume 500 people!!!! i surgested this could happen!! But you will not accept it is a possabilty!!
Strokes Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 I did not assume 500 people!!!! i surgested this could happen!! But you will not accept it is a possabilty!! I really think it could be more than this.
Babylon Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 I did not assume 500 people!!!! i surgested this could happen!! But you will not accept it is a possabilty!! And I suggested people could buy more pies and you couldn't accept that. I have said I DOUBT it would happen. Now that is not denying it could happen now is it!!!!!!!!!! It is expressing doubt that 500 people would not go because they can't smoke!!!
Strokes Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 And I suggested people could buy more pies and you couldn't accept that. because people that smoke don't buy pies and beers
Babylon Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 because people that smoke don't buy pies and beers MORE!!!! Do you know the meaning of more!!!??? Oh my god, do you read anything properly... go back and have a read... otherwise, jog on.
The Don Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 I'm glad i got out this argument at page 3!!!
Strokes Posted 23 February 2006 Posted 23 February 2006 MORE!!!! Do you know the meaning of more!!!??? Oh my god, do you read anything properly... go back and have a read... otherwise, jog on. Ha so they are going to buy 3 more pies than those that are already eaten(a figure which you or i don't know) what a load of shite.
