Katy Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Hows about a non smelling, healthy, clean fag? Excellent, I think with most people its the occupation of having something in your hand.
l444ry Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 Pathetic vote. I don't think this has anything to do with going without a fag for a period of time, but smoking at football is part and parcel. Thta vote was all non smokers voting first option and smokers the other one. Nothing to do with wether they care or not. Because of the f***ing moaning culture around we're being treated like retards and are being denied a right to enjoyment. Thanks people myself and a lot of other peoples enjoyment at football will be less because of this, whereas it won't effect all you lot at all. So f***ing what you get a bit of smoke on your clothes, wash them when you get home! For that typically selfish attitude, I hope that the next time you go to the Walkers you are sitting in the middle of a bunch of garlic eaters.
Babylon Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 Thanks people myself and a lot of other peoples enjoyment at football will be less because of this, whereas it won't effect all you lot at all. Ever thought that other peoples enjoyment at games was being tarnished thanks to having to breath in other peoples smoke!!! Typical selfish smoker response. So f***ing what you get a bit of smoke on your clothes, wash them when you get home! So you have to wait 90 minutes to have your fix of nicotine. Have one when you leave the ground!! It is your vice not anyone elses. Should you choose to smoke it should be you who has to put yourself out. Not the others who choose not to!!
Shum Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 Amen to that vote! Teeno, you say wash your clothes, I'm sorry but that is bollocks mate! I went out Friday and Saturday, came back smelling like an ashtray and you expect me to pay £10 to dryclean my blazer or leather jacket? Yeah right!
Guest Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 It's been banned from the stadium and from the 2007-2008 season, it'll be illegal anyway. Argue all you like, but you won't change anything, and I hope smokers do try and flount the rules; just don't start whinging when you have to pay up your fines.
The Don Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 This post is quite interesting and relevant to me as a smoker - Yes, I like a fag at the game - the rules now stipulate that you can only smoke in your seats before the game and half time. I didn't expect to be able to cope, but I have done. Admittedly, I do have 4 fags at half time. I missed the vote on Saturday as I was having a beer, and whilst on the concourse I had a fag, even though it is no smoking down there. There was also at least 50 other people standing around me having a fag. I don't like smoking in front of people, but please give us smokers somewhere that we can smoke, that everyone knows you can smoke so non-smokers can avoid and us smokers can kill ourselves in peace.
Babylon Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 I don't like smoking in front of people Most non smokers just ask for a bit of consideration from people, which you obviously do have. It's those with no consideration that have caused this problem.
Shum Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 As Lisa says from 2007/2008 it will be totally banned anyway from the stadium regardless of the vote on Saturday!
The Don Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 As Lisa says from 2007/2008 it will be totally banned anyway from the stadium regardless of the vote on Saturday! I'm not getting into any argument bout the new regulations - wrong forum for it - but I just want somewhere to smoke - not an enclosed space - just let me go outside for 5 mins at half time.

If you sit in the Kop, they open the back doors and there's a roped-off section leading to a burger van. I reckon that'll be rammed with smokers when this comes into force

davieG Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 Perhaps if the smokers hadn't flouted the exisiting rules, like standing under the no smoking signs in the concourse and puffing away, the club wouldn't have needed to have had the vote. PS I don't smoke and didn't vote.

PS I don't smoke and didn't vote. I don't know if this is a generalism, but i associate smoking with drinking, most of the people who have pints at half time I would say smoke. Drinking makes you want to smoke more. Yet as you can't take alcohol onto the seats, people smoke downstairs. I admit that I flight the rules, but seeing 50 people round you having a fag makes me think "**** it", they're doing it. The stewards are in a tough situation, I for one wouldn't like to go up to 50 grown men and ask them to put it out.
Babylon Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 I have a drink at HT but don't have a fag! Maybe we should start.... sounds fun.
The Don Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 I have a drink at HT but don't have a fag! But as you don't smoke I would be very surprised if you did. All I'm trying to say is I want a fag at half time (can cope during the game), and I also want a beer at half time. There is no way I can do both, I don't want to be selfish, I accept people's rights and views that they don't want smoke around them, I just want an area to smoke in, and then we'll all be happy. Hopefully I'll give in, then I won't have this problem anymore.

I can see your problem with smoking in public places being banned in 2007 it will be harder for fans who smoke to find somewhere to do so. Although you can Smoke out in the open outside the stadium, this isn't much of a comfort when it's pissing it down.
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 smoking is a comfort blanket, a dummy replacement, why don't you start thumb sucking instead if you can't cope with lifes stresses you weak lot.....maybe the club should hand out lollipops at the turnstiles for you to suck on ...kojak stylee?
Flemmish Posted 20 February 2006 Posted 20 February 2006 smoking is a comfort blanket, a dummy replacement, why don't you start thumb sucking instead if you can't cope with lifes stresses you weak lot.....maybe the club should hand out lollipops at the turnstiles for you to suck on ...kojak stylee? Well said, Im not against people who smoke, I just cannot stand the disgusting habbit especially when someone smokes right infront of me. I believe there should be a total ban on smoking full stop, but thats just my opinion. Im glad there will be a ban in the stadium, except I probably won't be renewing my season ticket

I dont think thats very fair Smoking is an addiction... I don't smoke, never have and probably never will, but if people can't go without nicotine for 2 hours it doesnt mean they are weak. Most smokers would be very proud if they could go 2 hours between each fag

I actually find this post quite offensive, considering you know nothing about me or my life, or about the other smokers on here. If you read my posts, you will see I'm not an inconsiderate person, but attitudes like your's really piss me off, anyway, you've woulnd me up now - going for a fag
trueblue1 Posted 21 February 2006 Posted 21 February 2006 - I'd probably queueing for beer like a 'proper fan' but I'd still vote no smoking if asked... in reply to syston fox, i have only got 5 kids that i bring to the games, and yes we are all STH and have been for many years!!! I have followed city for 30 years, home and away, only at home now though because of the cost, we used to sit in the family stand but because they made it non smoking we moved to F1, at a cost of an extra £20 per child, my choice, and i accept that. but by the sounds of it you dont care less!!! if i didnt come to the games again, all because i like a smoke !! and as you say, the club will find other people to fill our seats!! well good luck to them !!! but i hope theese people spend the same amount of money that i do !!! all my kids have at least 1 shirt, some have full kits, i suscribe to the world site every year, not to forget the money i spend at the ground every week, and the season tickets!! Also when the club was in addmin you didnt care if i smoked or not as long as i put money in the pot to help save the club!!! you might say that im a bit pissed off!!!! I can hear you all saying give it up then!! well maybe i will try, but if i dont manage to do it then i take it im not welcome at the walkers !!!! :m ad:

But if people are concerned about dwindelling support they will see the difference next year, i know of at least 15 of my mates including myself will not bother next year in pure and simple defience.
Phube Posted 21 February 2006 Author Posted 21 February 2006 but if i dont manage to do it then i take it im not welcome at the walkers !!!! :m ad: Of 'cause you'll be welcome, just not you packet of cigarettes... But does this mean after 2007 you'll no longer frequent: Work Pubs Clubs Bars Restaurants Cafes Shops Trains Aeroplanes Cinemas Hospitals (especially in Leicester as the WHOLE site will be non-smoking inc. the outside and car parks) So basically life will be limited to: House Car Streets.... Not my choice anyway!!
Strokes Posted 21 February 2006 Posted 21 February 2006 that's sad. you obviously aren't a real leicester city fan. all that just for a few cancer sticks, it's a sad state of affairs it really is. Not a real leicester fan ha i doubt i have missed more than 30 games in the last 15 years(home & away) i bet there aren't many who can beat that. I also have a lcfc tattoo across the whole of my back. At the end of the day the club obviosly don't want the money of us dirty smoker so they can shove it. i would rather spend thousands of pounds a year on a club that appreciates it not one that stabs you in the back. What annoy's me most is all the people that voted no are part time supportes anyway smokers no how to dedicate themselves (ie travelling to every away game) to thing unlike you anti smoking toss potts
