Although it's likely to be bollocks, it's not the first time i've heard that United have been interested in both of these players over the years.

He's an Allen Clarke type who plays and scores for England and with that exposure he's bound to get noticed. The sooner he's involved on our bench the better. Which is of more value to the club - Hammond/Sylla on the bench or Chambers?.

There is much I silll like about Hammond but he will never be a centre-forward because he wants to lash everything into the net, whereas Chambers is clinical, a natural scorer. Furthermore Hammond is a difficult player to predict, rather like Sylla in that way.

Fryatt talked about how easy it is to play alongside a partner like Hume and Chambers is the same. You quickly get to know the sort of runs he is capable of and he delivers good, early and accurate passes that are suited to the receiver.

As for being too young, I don't think so. His big assets are speed, control and instinct. He's not the type who's forever involved in physical battles. He's stealthy. A genuine predator. You know he's there but don't really see him until he's done you.

He'll get a chance next season, this season he needs to work on his game because he went about 4 months without a goal even at youth level! But he's destined for the big time if he works hard at his game, which i'm sure he will. Next season will be interesting, there aren't many 16 year olds that play first team football but that doesn't mean he shouldn't do.

I thought he was out with an injured knee for those months.

That's impossible to say. If he continues to progress at the level he has done then he'll be given a chance. I get the feeling you've just made that up.

He was injured for a while during this period. Also fryatts now gone a month without a goal but i certainly am not questioning his contribution to the team during this time.

Not the whole four months I dont think.

I know he was out for several weeks injured before the FA Youth Cup defeat just before Christmas. He returned for that game, obviously not fully match fit and played well but just failed to take the chances that would have given us victory. There was little happening after that but he seemed to re-emerge four or five weeks ago with a sprinkling of goals from various games/part games including his England penalty in Belgium.

Yes I understand his dry spell is very much over. However it was there for awhile even if it was due to lack of fitness/form/not playing enough games ect.

I wouldn't mind seeing him play a bit part in next season, maybe getting a few games like Sheehan has. One beacuse I dont think he's ready for more then that, two because I am worried the Chelski will come sniffing if they think theres 1% chance he will be a good player and they only have to pay tribunal for him.

little off subject (although im sure you wont mind ) Alan he needs to get an extended run in the team when he's fit, I think its time he gets his chance, and it really is time he takes it. hes starting to get to the age where he should be forcing his way in if he's as good as you say. We look safe, we should be totally safe by the time he's fit. Theres not going to be a better time for Sheehan to step up a level.

My sentiments exactly.

I think they should play Brevett. There's so many have said how much we we need experienced players.

He can show us all what a proper attacking left-back plays like.

I don't know. It might keep a few people off Sheehan's back if he plays but the truth is this year has been a complete waste of time for the lad and I don't see a lot to be gained from him playing three or four games that don't matter one way or the other. He was further on in August than he is now. Perhaps City should send him to Rushden and Diamonds. People seem to improve there.

Well we need to do something with him, 3 or 4 games will do nothing for his development.
