Jay Posted 27 May 2006 Posted 27 May 2006 If Sven grows doesn't grow some Balls and isn't afraid to take Beckham off after 60 mins when as usual he is playing sh it and bring on Lennon who can terrorise a defence like a right winger should and is able to beat the last man unlike Mr Beckham who as a right winger will spend more time playing left back than on the right wing then I fear we will do rubbish and probably go out at the QF stage if we are lucky
Master Fox Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 Another world cup disaster on it's way in a few weeks! Second round is the best we can hope for! The whole country will unite in a ritual burning of St George car flags and stickers!
coale39 Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 how can you say that lampard and gerrard are over hyped. then praise beckham!!! he's more over hyped than Mr hypy Mchype the hyper from hypetown. How well do people think we will do after the friendly match?
Lemon Harpic Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 How well do people think we will do after the friendly match? Abysmally. The Hungary match vindicated everything I said. Beckham, encouragingly, was able to carry his good club form into the England match, but without him we would have drawn 1-1. With Hungary. At home. There is simply no way this England team can qualify from our group, judging by that friendly match.

How on earth can you justify that statement, when Paraguay look absloutley abysmal and managed one goal against The super power of Georga and T&T got battered by Slovenia.

I trust, from all you say, that you'll be backing England to win the World Cup with everything you can afford. And that's what worries me more than anything really...you and I have such conflicting views and while I appreciate that you are quite analytical in your assessments I cannot find a single factor that makes me optimistic about England's chances. I just don't see how we're going to score enough goals and believe a semi-final appearance will be a major achievement and a quarter-final appearance at the top end of realistic expectations.

With our defence we wont need to score many goals.

Possible why I voted "Quater finals" in the above poll Im not paticularly optomstic, I just think that clown Lemon harpic is going a bit far with his " it will be a miracle if we beat Trindad " statements.
Thracian Posted 2 June 2006 Posted 2 June 2006 I'm relieved at what you say. For all our disagreements I wouldn't want you blowing your money on a rash bet!
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 June 2006 Posted 3 June 2006 I'm relieved at what you say. For all our disagreements I would want you blowing your money on a rash bet! It would be a boring world if we all thought the same way. I would like Mr Harpic to explain to me why a side that can demolish Jamica 6-0 cant do the same to T&T.

I would like Mr Harpic to explain to me why a side that can demolish Jamica 6-0 cant do the same to T&T. take your point but being able to beat either of them 6-0 really means very little ; i'm hoping we do well and i really believe we can ; but we will need a good bit of luck as every team does in the end (even brazil) in 2002 game i'm sure that was a fluked goal by ronaldhino that effectively ended our chances last time ; and again we were left with if only.............

I would like Mr Harpic to explain to me why a side that can demolish Jamica 6-0 cant do the same to T&T. To look at it another way, why can't T&T get a result against a team so abject that Denmark hammered them 4-1? Friendlies tell us nothing. Jamaica didn't qualify for the World Cup. In fact, during qualifying they lost at home to Panama and couldn't beat the mighty footballing power that is El Salvador. T&T don't play as suicidally as Jamaica did yesterday. Trinidad's possesion-based game still has the potential to frustrate England. Aside from showing just how absurdly biased the FIFA rankings are in favour of CONCACAF teams, that friendly match gave us no real insight, no clue as to how the T&T match will go.

A small clue would be that our players play for Chelsea Real Madrid Arsenal Man u Liverpool...... and theirs play for Coventry Port Vale Falkirk Wrexham Sydeny
Lemon Harpic Posted 4 June 2006 Posted 4 June 2006 A small clue would be that our players play for Chelsea Real Madrid Arsenal Man u Liverpool...... and theirs play for Coventry Port Vale Falkirk Wrexham Sydeny Man-for-man the England team is probably more skillful than T&T. The problem for England is that tactically we are a very backwards nation, and Trinidad have a European coach who, unlike our European coach, is a little more advanced than to use route one football all the time. As we've seen time and again, England are pathetic against teams who can keep possesion. We beat Jamaica because they, like England, are useless at keeping the ball. T&T will be a different kettle of fish. Although they probably lack the skill to finish us off, if they keep their wits about them and don't make anystupid errors then they can easily hold England to a draw.

Ric Flair Posted 5 June 2006 Author Posted 5 June 2006 This Lemon Harpic is a wind-up merchant i've seen him try it before. There is always a massive hype over England from England fans and media because they are passionate and desperate for us to do well. But the way you describe our team in your previous posts is one of the funniest things i've read in a long while. Don't get me wrong i'm sure there are some pessimists out there who have a valid argument about our chances and could pick faults with the way we play, but not to the grade that you have done. What you have written shows no credibility whatsoever. The fact is we have about 4 players that would be included in the World's best 20 players and several others that would be close to that. Trinidad and Paraguay can't boast that so how can you say that man for man we aren't comfortably better than them. England always raise their game in tournaments, even if we often do fall at the closing hurdles. This team is the strongest it's been for years and although the squad players are in-experienced they are also fearless which will help us. If your predictions are right, then i'll take a bow for you but how you can come to that conclusion amuses me. Should be an interesting few weeks, Lemon.
Gamesmaster Posted 5 June 2006 Posted 5 June 2006 4 dirty people think we''ll be knocked out in the group stages. 6 cant see us getting to the q/f. i think we''ll get there, but by that time, if we havn't got rooney, were not good enough to proceed.

Manwell Pablo Posted 5 June 2006 Posted 5 June 2006 The good news is that Roque Santa Cruz is unlikely to be fully fit for the England match. If he were playing at his best he could single-handedly rip our defence to shreds. Even without him, Paraguay should have enough to see us off. They beat Argentina in qualifying and drew with Brazil. They should make light work of England. T&T are not the most talented side, but their coach likes them to keep hold of the ball. England have been pathetic against teams who can keep the ball, especially under Sven Goran Eriksson. The question is whether T&T will be able to turn their superior possesion into goals. If, and it's a bif if, our defenders can stay awake for 90 minutes we may just be able to scrape a draw. We never win against Sweden. Ever. And that's not going to change in Germany. Well he's fit and will be playing..... so I look foward to him making us looks foolish.
