Head Honcho Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 Poll of 40000 people voted for Definitely Maybe. Slightly different poll to the usual best of poll's, with this one the people being polled were not given a list and as such had to name an album from memory. It's not in my top 10, maybe top 20 though!
The People's Hero Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 It is a good album - I'd have gone for Blonde on Blonde myself..
Head Honcho Posted 1 June 2006 Author Posted 1 June 2006 It is a good album - I'd have gone for Blonde on Blonde myself.. Quelle Surprise !!
Mark Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 Can't agree either but it's definitely Oasis' best CD. The best part is the picture of Steve Walsh celebrating his playoff winner against Derby in the CD inlay
Libertine Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 I prefer Morning Glory myself. 'Tis great though, but not the best album ever.
Ultra Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 I agree that Morning Glory was a better album. But even that would struggle to get into a top 10 of albums from Manchester, let alone the planet!

But even that would struggle to get into a top 10 of albums from Manchester, let alone the planet! Agreed Post your nominations for better Manchester albums I'll start us off with Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out) with ironically the 8th track called "Oasis"
Head Honcho Posted 1 June 2006 Author Posted 1 June 2006 Any Smiths album. Another Music in a Different Kitchen
Chairman of the Bored Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 Fair to middling. Horses by Patti Smith is really the best LP of all time. Quickly followed by Blood on the Tracks (Dylan), Closer (Joy Division), Du Och Jag Doden (Kent) and then any one of a couple of thousand others.

Chairman of the Bored Posted 2 June 2006 Posted 2 June 2006 Dear lord!! ps. sorry, I just really don't like Kent That's a shame matey cos they're frigging awesome. They have a massive following in Sweden and when it comes to the Swedes or the Danes, I'll back the Swedes every time! I saw them play Malmo last year and it was a faultless gig. Superb.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 2 June 2006 Posted 2 June 2006 Joy Division - Closer? Yes. Why do you ask? It's a solid gold classic.
Cat Burger Posted 2 June 2006 Posted 2 June 2006 Yes. Why do you ask? It's a solid gold classic. To best Manchester album, being as I don't like Oasis and The Roses aren't that good. Smiths just miss out
shen Posted 3 June 2006 Posted 3 June 2006 That's a shame matey cos they're frigging awesome. They have a massive following in Sweden and when it comes to the Swedes or the Danes, I'll back the Swedes every time! I saw them play Malmo last year and it was a faultless gig. Superb. Nothing to do with them being Swedish, I just find the singers voice REALLY annoying... <_<
Chairman of the Bored Posted 3 June 2006 Posted 3 June 2006 Nothing to do with them being Swedish, I just find the singers voice REALLY annoying... <_< Joakim Berg: a man amongst boys. 10/10 in my book.
Finnegan Posted 3 June 2006 Posted 3 June 2006 Not even Oasis' best album. What's The Story's miles better, tbh.
four-four-two Posted 4 June 2006 Posted 4 June 2006 best album ever made bar none no two ways about it boys
Chairman of the Bored Posted 4 June 2006 Posted 4 June 2006 best album ever made bar none no two ways about it boys Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.....
Daggers Posted 5 June 2006 Posted 5 June 2006 Où est la maison de fromage? ~ John Cooper Clark 'Groundbreaking' doesn't do it justice
Chairman of the Bored Posted 5 June 2006 Posted 5 June 2006 Où est la maison de fromage? ~ John Cooper Clark 'Groundbreaking' doesn't do it justice JCC = pure quality! Snap, Crackle and Bop also a classic with the amazing Beasley Street therein. "Keith Joseph smiles and a baby dies in a box on Beasely Street." Best attack on the Tories in a song, ever!
Nationwider Posted 5 June 2006 Posted 5 June 2006 Stone Roses - Stone Roses As an entire album, it holds together better than anything else I've ever listened to. My favourite album in the vurld, never mind Manchester. I'm not really an album person these days - random/shuffled playlists have a lot to answer for. Is Deffo Maybe the one with Cigs'n'Alcohol and Supersonic on? If so, then yeah, best Oasis album by a country mile. Doesn't feature in my hit parade though.
