Ricey Posted 14 June 2006 Posted 14 June 2006 Nearly finished now, Neuville has just scored in the 91st minute! They've deserved it you have to admit.

samingram_uk Posted 14 June 2006 Posted 14 June 2006 i think poland played well, both tam had chances but couldn't finsh ( until the 91st min )
Daggers Posted 14 June 2006 Posted 14 June 2006 I was really rooting for Poland - thought they'd done it! Great game, really enjoyable. On balance, Ballac looked a bit wank don't you think. Not the superstar he's painted to be...

Not the superstar he's painted to be... Not according to the sychophantic 'experts' who thought he was the only German worthy of his place in the team. Preparing for when he's playing for Chelsea next season no doubt.

I couldn't sit around afterwards to listen to them guilding lillies anymore...
Chairman of the Bored Posted 14 June 2006 Posted 14 June 2006 Nevertheless, Deutschland building up a head of steam. Worrying.
Flemmish Posted 14 June 2006 Posted 14 June 2006 I nearly cried when they score, Poland battled and defended so well all night
MC Prussian Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 Bloody lucky Germans did it again. 91st minute. ****ers. The red card against the Polish guy was totally unnecessary, though. Therefore: Poland, you could've done better than that.

Therefore: Poland, you could've done better than that. BOOOO! They bloody deserved it! One might not like the Germans, but how refreshing wasn't it to see a team, who didn't NEED to win, go for it 100% right until the death? That's what football should be about: Two teams willing to attack all the way through. This game just convinced me that they will get very far with sheer determination and will power, as usual, but this time with some flair and enthusiasm too. Even though I'm half German, I have not enjoyed watching them since 1990, but with the football Klinsmann is trying to encourage I'm actually starting to like them again. Poland were brave, but they were never good enough. Whenever they threatened to make a breakthrough, an immense Per Mertesacker hurled himself to the ground in the best centerback style. You tried Poland, but you were too nervous in your first game and just not good enough in the second.
Guest Michal Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 We weren't good enough? That's bullshit! And what if there was no 91st minute goal??? We would be good enough then? We were the weaker, sure, but it's not always the stronger who wins, which is the sense of football- if you're not too good in one thing, you may well make it up by another... Jelen did whatever he wanted with the Germans, maybe if Zuraw did better... ehh Still, 15 games against that bloody country (tfu tfu) and 11 losses, 4 draws. Last win in 1410 but it was massive... I don't think I have to describe what I felt in the 91st minute and what some 40mln people felt I'm pretty sure some tv's have flied through the windows that night. But the embassy and consulates remained untouched, police did well. Main thought after yesterday: never mix too much beer with too much wodka...

Must admit Zurawski was rather disappointing, he was pinned up to be the star man. I might be a bit biased but I certainly thought Poland were good enough in the second game. We created chances and defended resolutely throughout the game. I did think we were poor in the first game when we never got into it and like Shen said we were nervous. Anyone fancy Polska for Euro 2008?
Guest Michal Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 Anyone fancy Polska for Euro 2008? me me!!! But I always fancy Polska they have to get to the euro eventually!
Matt Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 Was listening to Ecuador v Costa Rica and the poles at work looked so gutted when the knew they'd been knocked out, I actually felt abit sorry for them but it didn't stop me taking the piss out of them They'll love it if England get knocked out though...Actually on the other hand doubt they'll say anything becuase someone will probably attack them if they do take the piss!

This is where I have the best of both worlds supporting Poland and England, when 1 gets knocked out, usually being Poland, I can then go on and support England! Therefore I wouldn't love it if England get knocked out! Come on England!!
Suffolk_fox Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 I think Germany aren't the be all and end all - they just seem to vulnerable to me - a bit like a Keegan side, dangerous up front and full of goals but ropey at the back. Bit daft of Polska to try and play for a draw against them though - of all people, you expect them to score in the last minute!!!
Guest Michal Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 They'll love it if England get knocked out though...Actually on the other hand doubt they'll say anything becuase someone will probably attack them if they do take the piss! Personally, yes, I will love it (rather personal reasons) [and Trinidad deserved a tie today ^&%$#!!! or at least Tobago did ... never mind], but have to tell you it works both ways, soooo many English here in Poland nowadays seen it last night.

Guest Michal Posted 16 June 2006 Posted 16 June 2006 So many Poles are here inEngland to, think they own the place. Oh and Trinidad did not deserve a point. It's not up to me to judge the Poles there, if you say so... I guess I would also be a little pissed off if some nation stormed our country searching for jobs, which is actually said to happen in the next few years in the case of Ukrainians, but they're ok As for the Trinidad game, I thought the irony was clear. Sorry if not.

Considering they practically had to win, they didn't pose enough of a threat. Jelen was good, but his finishing was straight at Lehmann. I really couldn't see where the goal was going to come from, and this was against the supposedly 'weak' German defense. Whereas the Germans looked dangerous on many occasions.
