BartonFox Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 I mean, seriously, with the exception of maybe Birmingham - who is going to come to the Walker's next year and expect to take three points? West Brom Norwich Ipswich Cardiff Derby Coventry Preston Sunderland Birmingham Southend Palace
Phube Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Gilbert Kinch, hmmm, I was dead against him and the other 3 perhaps in hindsight we should have backed them. Then we wouldn't have been burdened with Peter Taylor and the whole administration thing. I still yearn for the day Martin George will come back and sort us out again. I see your point really, I mean the only reason we were against them was because of MON and he left 5 months later!! I wonder what would have happened??
bigneville Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 West Brom Norwich Ipswich Cardiff Derby Coventry Preston Sunderland Birmingham Southend Palace So your saying that half of the league would be dissappointed with a draw at the walkers???
Jimmy Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 he's just someone who has no faith in kelly or the squad best thing would be to just ignore him
Bert Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 West Brom yes Norwich no Ipswich no Cardiff no Derby no Coventry no Preston yes Sunderland yes Birmingham yes Southend NO Palace no

Finnegan Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 West BromNorwich Ipswich Cardiff Derby Coventry Preston Sunderland Birmingham Southend Palace You know what, mate? If you've lost that much faith and are going to be that pessimistic, I don't think this game's for you. Why don't you make like the average 12 your old, get mummy to buy you a Chelsea shirt and then you can have an easy time next year. K? Or, if you really enjoy being miserable about your football team, you could always support Yeovil.

Or, if you really enjoy being miserable about your football team, you could always support Yeovil. Sorry, we are going to win every game both domestic trophies and sign Miroslav Klose in the January window. Paddy McCarthey is up there with Cannavaro and Terry in class and Fryatt and Hume are more deadly that Shearer and Sutton ever were. How's that? Any better? No didn't think so because none of it is true. Here is the thing whether you like it or not Leicester are my team, they always will be, but I won't just sit back and happy clap making out everything is okay when it clearly isn't. You see it is supporters like you that make me weep; your acceptance of everything the Club throw down on us is preventing the Club moving forward. Perhaps by November you'll realise but by then it could be too late <_<
Ultra Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 West Brom Norwich Ipswich Cardiff Derby Coventry Preston Sunderland Birmingham Southend Palace If you seriously think Southend will come to the Way expecting to win, you are a seriously bitter, twisted and deluded guy. The fact that you also expect us to lose at home to Cov and the sheep shows your opinions are beneath contempt.
Isopen Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Oh and Fryatt will be away before August. Is this as certain as the done deal for Downing as coach????

It may have escaped your notice but Martin George was on the board when we went bust. He could've bailed us out but chose not to. There's more chance of rebuilding Filbert Street than seeing him back at our club!

The fact that you also expect us to lose at home to Cov and the sheep shows your opinions are beneath contempt. For once take off the fox shaped blue tinted specs and look at the real picture. What kind of statement is that? Coventry have an excellent squad for the new season and it pains me greatly to admit that, I hate the SBS detest them but sometimes you have to be honest. The Billy Davies factor will ensure Derby have a good season and we don't beat Billy Davies's teams. Southend are a damn sight better that you or everyone else on here seem to be giving them credit for, you should show them some respect. And finally who the f'ck refers to the Walkers Stadium as 'the Way'?!?!?
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Like it or not he has a point. I wouldnt go as far as saying we will get relegated, but I reckon in parts its going to be a miserable seasos. all this talk of top six we be over by bonfire night that im sure of.
BartonFox Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Is this as certain as the done deal for Downing as coach???? Yip, and as one poster on here knows full well I told them when it fell through. When John Ward went back on his verbal acceptance for the Carlisle job KD stayed on and so would you when Cheltenham could offer more in salary.

There's more chance of rebuilding Filbert Street than seeing him back at our club! And would you have bailed out the Club with those debts run up by Walker and Elsom? No neither would I. <_<

Isopen Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 And finally who the f'ck refers to the Walkers Stadium as 'the Way'?!?!? I know several mates who call it Filbert Way as they refuse to use the name of the sponsor, as they hate sponsored named stadiums.
Alexikokopops Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 If you seriously think Southend will come to the Way expecting to win, you are a seriously bitter, twisted and deluded guy. The fact that you also expect us to lose at home to Cov and the sheep shows your opinions are beneath contempt. Just out of curiosity when did Barton's list of "Teams that will come to the Walkers' looking for the 3 points" to "Teams that Barton Fox expects us to lose against"? I'm neither here nor there, but I do find it funny the amount of reaction one guy gets for having the ol' pessimistic view.
Ultra Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Coventry have an excellent squad for the new season and it pains me greatly to admit that, I hate the SBS detest them but sometimes you have to be honest. Aaah, now we're getting to the crux of the matter. Are you an admirer of Micky Adams, wishing he was back with us? The Billy Davies factor will ensure Derby have a good season and we don't beat Billy Davies's teams. Well he's at Derby now, and they NEVER beat us Southend are a damn sight better that you or everyone else on here seem to be giving them credit for, you should show them some respect. They're not Barcelona FFS. I'd be amazed if they finish outside the bottom 6. They certainly shouldn't be within 15 points of us. And finally who the f'ck refers to the Walkers Stadium as 'the Way'?!?!? I'm not paid shedloads to advertise junk food, so I don't. As far as I'm concerned our ground is Filbert Way.
Ultra Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 I know several mates who call it Filbert Way as they refuse to use the name of the sponsor, as they hate sponsored named stadiums. Good on them...
Finnegan Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 How's that? Any better? No didn't think so because none of it is true. No-one's asking you to live in lairy, fairy hippo-land. But we don't have a terrible squad and once more we've got a manager that's largely untested with an entire season of his own to work with after a full summer's break to prepare. The fact of the matter is this ([/the Rock]), the coming season is a great unknown for the lot of us - predicting Leicester to be in the drop zone is just as stupid as claiming we'll certainly be in the top three; and claiming that half the league will expect to take three points away from the Walkers' is simple, pessimistic lunacy. It's not about "accepting everything the club has thrown at us", it's about looking at the prospects on offer with as much three-dimensionalism as possible. I'm open minded about the new season and I think we've potentially got the opportunity to witness the best young crop of City players of the last decade develope into a bonded, functional unit. I think the play-offs look a long, long way away but the summer's proving too long already and frankly I'm boyishly giddy in anticipation of the new footballing year. If you don't want to share my realism, my open-mindedness, then fair enough, you're welcome to your opinion. But I'll be all the readier to wipe in your face, the shagging of Saaarf'ehnd at the Walkers' and you can be all the readier to quote me on that if we lose.

Manwell Pablo Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Alright Ultra calm down I’m glad your confident, and obviously I hope you are right to be, however I don’t see us making any kind of serious promotion challenge next season. Southend will give a good account of themselves next season I reckon, even if they do lack talents of Ronaldinho Lionel Messi and Carlos Puyol. Adams has assembled a half decent squad at Cov, don’t be surprised to see them do better then us next season. Our midfield is week and lacking depth, our strikers are young and will both need to have blistering seasons if we are to make any impact on this division, we still lack a good natural left back. We have two Centre half’s who find themselves in the book regularly and a unproven League Two defender and Euro trash to cover, our manager doesn't fill me with confidence RE Weslowski and Stearmen, comments he has made throughout the summer leads me to believe he's going to have neither of them in the side come August 5th. IMO it aint looking rosy, the only real decent proven player we have signed is AJ and he will struggle to fill Joeys boots creatively and is not going to get you the goals Joey did either. This all my take on it of course, Williams could finally kick on and perform for Leicester and Hughes could recapture his old form, Rob Kelly may indeed be attempting to take the pressure off the younger players by saying they wont be playing as much. Mcarthy may actually learn to behave himself and Mcauley may be up to it at this level. Most important of all, our promising strike force may bang in 35+ goals for us. It's to many ifs and buts for me and I don’t see it all coming together, if we can somehow get a top half finish that will be a good platform to build on for next season if we can keep other teams away from our players and add another 3 or 4 in key positions. I know Southend shouldn’t come to "the way" expecting a win, but unfortunately they are playing the above set of players not Leicester Citys reputation.
