Someone said it weeks ago. There'll be a sale or two before the season starts. Question is will it/they be properly antipated and City emerge stronger or will we be left behind on the starting blocks?

I've still not made my mind up about a season ticket because I am still not convinced that anything is going to change or that there's any sign of us starting to move forwards in our outlook which is the main thing for me. Indeed the most singificant event for me so far is Ashley Chambers being missing from the squad list.

Kelly may prove a good, even an astute manager, but he's not an orator, not a man who can lift the fans and inspire potential new fans with inspirational statements of intent.

Bill Shankly, for example, oozed passion. His blood must have been LFC positive and 90% adrenalin. We badly need someone at Leicester like that - a public voice be it a coaching/managerial assistant, director, whatever. Someone who can give people goosebumps at the very mention of our club and someone who has the energy to see that promises are fulfilled.

Even with the chairmanship changing Leicester City still seem too sleepy, too lacking of a public driving force, someone who can convince people to be part of what is going on.

Yes, I'm looking forward to the season, but not because of anything Leicester have done. When will our club start having some impact? When will it start to excite us. It used to - honestly!

While I agree with the sentiment that having a motivational speaker as manager is important, it's not the end of the world. To be honest (and I may be slated for this!) I found what Levein said when he came fairly motivational. He always said the right thing about having a young hungry squad on long contracts that could build a rapport with the fans, but then delivered dross on the pitch! Micky Adams was another one. I don't know if anyone remembers his "don't talk to me about the play offs" speech at one of the Q&A nights, but it wasn't backed up on the pitch.

If Kelly can provide his motivation to fans on the pitch, be it in results or through never say die performances, I for one wil be delighted, irrespective of what he says in a press conference! Only time will tell unfortunately.

Maybe I'm just trying to be optimistic as I've already splahed out on my season ticket!

I didn't say the motivational speaker had to be the manager, nor did I think either Levein or Adams were in any way inspiring, quite the contrary really, but it matters not.

My question is don't you, or any other fans, think that the time to get some bums back on seats - and some new season ticket holders - is now, both through actions and words?

Fans are forever cmplaining that the club is broke yet 14,000-odd seats were empty every week last season. It's just money being thrown away.

Anyway, here's to the never-say-die approach which I don't believe but sincerely hope will elevate us towards the top of the League.

people seem to be missing the point that at the end of last season the squad of players we had were achieving play off form.

Thus far we have only lost 1 significant player from that squad in Joey Gudjonsson. He has been replaced with a box to box midfielder who has vast experience at the Championship level and has spent the past 2 seasons playing in the Premiership.

We have also brought in Gareth McCauley who is unproven at Championship level but however is a Norn Iron International and apparently very dangerous in the oppositiins box from set pieces (something we have needed)

Darren Kenton who i felt did reasonably well his last time here and if nothing else will make an effective squad player if we have a number of injuries

Josh Low who is also untested but is a winger that we have needed, is regarded as tricky and was selected in the League 2 team of the year, his team Northampton also got promoted.

Fryatt and Hume have the ability to be one of the most feared striking partnerships in the division and are only going to get better.

Therefore there are reasons to be optimistic, Kelly has attempted to improve a squad that was suceeding at the back end of last season.

As for Fryatt to Birmingham for £1.75 million I do not believe it for a minute. The profit is not worth it and we are only likely to make more from him in the future be that through promotion or selling him on to a premiership club

It is conveniently selective to talk of play-off form at the end of the season.

Kelly worked a near miracle to save us from relegation with a run of good results.

But it was following on from a run of dreadful results, with much the same players, which get quickly forgotten, though I cannot blame anyone for that!.

Our last four games weren't play off form (four points from 12) and worse still, even when we had secured safety we never showed any signs that we were becoming an exciting all-round football team.

We simply remained workmanlike and never attempted to expand our game even when safety had been assured.

All you say about the new signings is reasonable but I still don't see that Joey's goals from midfield have been replaced or that anything has really been done about our other weaknesses - indifferent goalkeepers, lack of goals/creativity in most midfield slots, shortage of one winger, remaining question marks about our attack capability from left back (four big problems effectively).

Fryatt and Hume can only get better, and we can only score the 70 goals needed, if they get some creative service and if people from other positions chip in with goals, about 40 between them, if the two strikers share 30.

Where will those goals come from considering Maybury, Hughes, Tiatto, and probably even Wesolowski and Johnson, combative as they may be, hardly offer much in the way of goal threat or creativity?. I seem to recall asking the same question last closed season when we scored 51, even with Joey.

Perhaps we are going for 23 home 1-0's and 23 goalless draws away!!!!.

Brum have got Forssell, Jerome and DJ Campbell. If a club comes in for Forssell (which is likely) then maybe this rumour does make sense and they will go for a Jerome and Fryatt partnership with Campbell on the bench?

hope it isn't true but wasnt Steve bruce seen at the cov leicester match before supposedly scouting Fryatt or Kisnorbo?

From skysports:

Bruce confirms bids

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce has money burning a hole in his pocket following the sale of Emile Heskey and he has told Sky Sports News he has two bids on the table for players - with Fulham striker Collins John high on his wish list.

Bruce is determined to build a squad capable of bouncing back to The Premiership at the first time of asking.

He has already revamped his squad and the sale of Heskey to Wigan in midweek has swelled the club's coffers to the tune of £5.5 million.

It would appear Bruce has been given the green light to reinvest the money, as he has confirmed two bids are on the table.

"The problem is, which is what we have all got, is can we get the ones we want and are they available?" Bruce told Sky Sports News.

"We have two bids for two particular players at the moment. We hope something materialises over the next ten days."

Bolstering his attack would appear to be an area Bruce is looking at, as he has been linked with Charlton target Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and John.

It would appear as if Fulham are ready to strike a deal for John, as Blues have entered into talks with the Dutch forward.

I love all this they can sod off for 1.75m lol

If we were offered 1.75m for any player the board would bit their arms off at the shoulders. Do you not realise that the interest payments on the stadium loan would be paid off for this year?

We ain't a big club, we are back to being a selling club so deal with it folks.

Oh and Fryatt will be away before August.

Collins John would be a good signing for anyone in this league though i cannot see Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink stepping down to the championship.

Jimmy Floyd won't step down as he's already had offers or is about to get offers from two premiership clubs, in Aston Villa and Charlton....

Fryatt has the potential to be worth much more than 1.75 million so it should be rejected as i dont think the squad can be improved if we sell him with the money.

BartonFox, do you ever have anything positive to say about the club? Is there not one bit of optimism in you? Or do you still think the club is going down or bankrupt this season? I'm just wondering what it is that makes you so pessimistic about the clubs chances and fortunes?

WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO SIGN MILLION POUND DEFENDERS LIKE COV!!!!!

Did i say we did?

All i said was that i'd basically be pleased if we'd made their signings, or ones of that calibre if you will. I just found it a bit sad considering they're our rivals and the recent histories of both clubs that i feel that way.

But we were never going to!!

I'd be pleased if we signed a £10m striker but I know it aint going to happen.

I just don't think most of you seem to understand. Key reasons that this cannot be true and the issue does not need discussion;

1) He is not what Birmingham are looking for. They are after good, proven players; players like John & Hasselbaink. Bruce has probably barely heard of Fryatt. They will not be trying to sign him.

2) If there was a bid of anything over £1m for any of our players it would be accepted without even thinking about it. Telling them to 'sod off' is not an option.

It's only my opinion, but I don't believe words would ever make someone buy a season ticket. There's only two thigns that would. One is big name signings, which in our current state of affairs aint gonna happen. The other is good performances on the pitch. This may happen, but unfortunately, we're almost into a chicken and egg situation. We may not get the good performances until we afford the better players, and we can't afford the better players until attendances increase through better performances. Our hope is that RK can mould a decent team with what he's got and prospects from the academy, attendances increase through the year off the back of good performances and the season ticket sales come back next year. Because someone that "talks a good talk" isn't going to make people rush to the ticket office this year!

All you say about the new signings is reasonable but I still don't see that Joey's goals from midfield have been replaced

half of joeys goal were penalties, which i'm sure hume fryatt, johnson or even mdv could slot home, joey only looked that good because for half the season he had kisnorbo as his midfield partner when wesolowski, williams or hughes he didn't look much better then average.

his other goals were mostly wonder goals which are just as likely to fly up to row z as hit then net

fryatt wasnt that good versus cov...

And Kisnorbo put in that horror tackle as well.

An impressive day for the boys being scouted...
