bigneville Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 is rumoured to be signing for Brum,a bid has been placed and will be accepted next week, this is from a brum fan.The fee is said to be £1.75 million. And where did he hear that load of crap then?
Jimmy Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 no way the club would sell him to another club in this league and it would takee a massive bid from a prem club aswell
Mad Dog Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 If any club in the world bid £1.75m then he would sign for them within one minute of it being made. Birmingham, however, are not in the position to bid £1.75m for an unproven striker.

brookfox Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 Wel they have just sold Heskey for £5.5m, so money won't be an issue for them.
Solihullfox Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 I live in Solihull and have many mates who follow Blues. Not one of them has mentioned this and believe me they would take great delight in doing so.
Lester LXXIV Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 Bruce commented on Sky Sports this morning that he has a couple of offers in for players, but isn't sure the respective teams want to let the players go. He hopes to have something sorted in the next 10 days. Obviously there was no mention of who, however it does proves that he is actively looking for players still!
Bluefoxtim Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 Wel they have just sold Heskey for £5.5m, so money won't be an issue for them. Course it is! You don't get anywhere near as much money from the championship do you!
Lester LXXIV Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 they can sod right off I think that just about wraps it up then doesn't it!
brookfox Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 Course it is! You don't get anywhere near as much money from the championship do you! Of course you don't. But you're telling me that having sold a striker for £5.5m on big wages, they couldn't afford one for £1.75m on smaller wages?! That's what you do when you go down, sell your best players for big money and replace them with cheaper ones.

brookfox Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 Whilst that makes perfect sense, does it mean Fryatt is going to Brum. Never said it did. I was just pointing out that if they wanted him, they could probably afford him. Personally I think it's a load of bollox!

Maybes Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 They forked out 3million for jerome. There strike force is sorted for next season. DJ Campbell who bagged 4 goals in a friendly the other night and cameron jerome from cardiff.
Stevosevic Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 I could see it happening as it seems we have to accept any respectable offer at the moment. But hopefully Fryatt will feel he owes leicester to stay as we gave him the chance to play at a higher level and i am sure he is very happy here.
brookfox Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 I forgot they'd signed Jerome - makes the rumour seem even more inplausible. Let's just hope that Bruce isn't the Championships new Neil "You can never have too many strikers in your squad" Warnock!
Thracian Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 Someone said it weeks ago. There'll be a sale or two before the season starts. Question is will it/they be properly antipated and City emerge stronger or will we be left behind on the starting blocks? I've still not made my mind up about a season ticket because I am still not convinced that anything is going to change or that there's any sign of us starting to move forwards in our outlook which is the main thing for me. Indeed the most singificant event for me so far is Ashley Chambers being missing from the squad list. Kelly may prove a good, even an astute manager, but he's not an orator, not a man who can lift the fans and inspire potential new fans with inspirational statements of intent. Bill Shankly, for example, oozed passion. His blood must have been LFC positive and 90% adrenalin. We badly need someone at Leicester like that - a public voice be it a coaching/managerial assistant, director, whatever. Someone who can give people goosebumps at the very mention of our club and someone who has the energy to see that promises are fulfilled. Even with the chairmanship changing Leicester City still seem too sleepy, too lacking of a public driving force, someone who can convince people to be part of what is going on. Yes, I'm looking forward to the season, but not because of anything Leicester have done. When will our club start having some impact? When will it start to excite us. It used to - honestly!

Spot on with how i'm feeling too. Still undecided on a season ticket because, well the signings don't inspire me thus far amongst other things, and the sale of Fryatt wouldn't persuade me to either. Sad thing is that if we'd have made Cov's signings i probably would have got one. Thinking about it i'm putting too much emphasis on signings, but we just don't look set to build on that good end to last season as things stand. As for the Fryatt issue anyway, although a £1.75m sale would be a tidy profit in the space of 6 months, he's got the potential to be worth double that seeing as the same club paid £3m for Cameron Jerome. I imagine Rob Kelly would maybe get half of that to spend with the clubs financial situation, so i wouldn't take it.
Graz Posted 9 July 2006 Posted 9 July 2006 The papers have been linking Birmingham with Collins John from Fulham, and I think that is who they are talking about when Bruce says about not being sure if the clubs will let the players go. I can't see Fryatt going to Birmingham, especially not for as little as £1.75m, and I don't think Birmingham would pay more than that for him. We signed him for £750,000, which apparently had an add on for another £100,000 since we didn't get relegated last season, and I think it was said at the time that the transfer had a substantial selling on clause. So basically, if we sold Fryatt for that price then we'd probably only be making about £300,000 profit or something. Not enough to even come close to replacing Fryatt, let alone strengthening the other positions we need. It just wouldn't make sense to sell Fryatt for that little amount.

Quick sign up bill shankly... oh he's dead. I don't see many managers/clubs making statements that are giving fans "goosebumps". I also doubt anyone but you and Ashley Chambers see the lack of a 15 year old on the squad list a significant event.
