Bad news guys! As you may or not know Alan Maybury lives in Burton on the Wolds. I have family and friends living there and my friends dad is giving his girlfriend driving lessons. She told him tonight that her and alan are finding it hard to settle in the area as there is so little to do. She claims he has had offers from wigan and sheff utd but is more likely to return to hearts as they are looking to push for the champions league next season and he would love to experience it.

I for one hope he stays because he was class last season and wil be vital in our promotion push this term. If he goes to sheff utd ill be pissed off!! F**king Warnock!

he does not live there. he lives near the walkers stadium as he was signed by levein and he made everyone he signed live near to the walkers, with the exception of fryatt as he is younger.

if he's unhappy let him go as we'll get cash for him.

bye then, dont let the door hit you in the arse on the way out, not needed, stearman is the better rb and he's average at best on the wing.

of course from the start of the thread this could well be a load of bollocks

Burton-on-the-Wolds looks out on the final field - when you walk straight across it you drop off the end of the world.

Nothing to do?. There's a hoe-down in the autumn (I bet Alan missed that cos of a midweek match), in fact everything goes down in the autumn when the food harvesting's replaced by flesh harvesting.

There's only three girls in Burton so I gather so people have to be patient and its no use the farming lads going into Loughborough because they are just not maleable enough to cope with all those athletic students and, besides, town and gown is strictly separate in my experience, unless you're a bit cunning.

Then there's usually a bit of cricket. You know the sort. Beer barrels round the boundary but otherwise no, Burton is probably not the place to sup the elixir of Big City nightlife in fact you're lucky if you sip anything stronger than tea.

Now guess what'll happen. Some nubile nymphomaniac from Burton will post to say that it was being in Burton which opened her eyes to the world's excesses....

Oh well I can wait for the addresses.... :P:P

excuse me thrac! i did say i had family and friends living there so i dont appreciate it being belittled. would you not htink that a footballer would like to get away from the stresses of life and pressures of his job by living in a quiet village? or maybe he could live in the city centre and get hounded day after day from his fans?:thumbup:

A few people from Burton go to the same school as me and one lad told me Maybury lives on his road or at least close by.

The players don't have to live in those flats next to Filbert Way. Stearman and Weso were staying in the digs on Aylestone Road last time I heard but things have moved on a fair bit for both of them since so they may have their own places but I doubt they've both decided to live right next to their place of work!

Played cricket in Burton a few times. Nice enough setting, some pretty impressive houses but not much to do there. Nothing's stopping Maybury from driving to Leicester or even Nottingham if he thinks there's no-where good enough for him in Leicestershire to socialise. It really isn't that far to go. Only a 10 minute train journey from Barrow, though I doubt that's his preferred mode of transport.

It is usually the younger players (and certainly the academy players) that have to live nearby the stadium.

So I hear.

The digs on Aylestone Road are for the Academy lads. It's mainly for the scholars but you get some of the under 16 year olds staying there who can't get to training under their own steam or can't get a lift home. Just a place for them to stay but if they live near enough or can get a lift in themselves then I don't think they have to live there. A few seasons back when we had a large amount of young Irish lads in the youth teams, they used to come and live there as they had no other option. Their families were still in Ireland. I think Wesolowski's dad lives in England but he still used to use the digs for convenience some of the time. As I say, Stearman was still using it from time to time up until Christmas at least.

Okay I did get a bit facetious and I apologise but there's me pointing out, tongue in cheek, what a quiet place it is and there's you saying wouldn't a footballer like to get away from the stresses and pressures by living in a quiet village!.

I worked in Loughborough for a three or four years and Burton was so quiet then you couldn't hear it at all.

I also remember playing cricket for Carillon Old Boys against Burton or it might have been the village next door. They had a two genuine fast bowlers (called Rush and Hubbard I seem to recall). I bet those names still crop up in the district now unless the place is full of commuters now.

We did have beer kegs strategically placed outside the boundaries but they might not have been part of the official paraphernalia of the game so it must be the post-harvest shindigs which upset you or I was wrong about.

It was a long time ago so if Burton's post-harvest entertainment is not what it was I'm happy to take your word cos I've only been there to buy a caravan in recent years.

Anyway here's a toast to Burton cos I like quiet places whatever Alan Maybury thinks.

Could be Walton? Very close together but Walton's ground is in between fields whereas Burton's is just off a fairly new looking housing estate. Buton have probably changed grounds since you played there though because their current place is just a sports field in general with tennis coursts. Not the best of places to play at all.

That's where it was, Walton. But the ball probably ended up in Burton a few times cos one or two of our lads didn't half give those pacemen a whacking - quite spoiling their prospects as young county trialists for a while. :)

Well, anyway, I drove through Burton once and the lady I asked for directions said that her friends dogs cousin once had a cake that was made by someone who owned a rabbit that once belonged to the next door neighbour of someone who swears they met someone who might have known...:P

If I had the fortune (or misfortune) to know something about one of the players, I certainly wouldn't broadcast it on here. You only get abused and called a liar so I wouldnt bother if I were you, just keep it to yourself. Everyone is judge and jury on here
